A tribute to Ann Nixon Cooper

She first registered to vote in 1941, but deferred the voting privilge to her husband, who died in 1967. She has out lived three of her four children. She has seen a century of world history yet she rose to take her place in history too by making her way to the polls in 2008 to cast her ballot for Obama. She will turn 107 in january, just weeks before Obama's inauguration. She said "I feel nothing but relief that things have changed as much as they have," she said. "After a while, we will all be one. That's what I look forward to."

She waited 106 years but she got it done. Yes, we can.

3. I remember seeing her story on CNN a couple of weeks ago.

Don Lemon went with her as she voted early in Atlanta,GA where she was greeted by the Mayor of Atlanta. And then the next week Lemon did a follow up story on Mrs. Cooper as she received a phone call from Barack Obama.
