Reminder-The opposition wants to beat the other guys base down
so we wont vote cause we'll hate Kerry by then. The beaters include almost every talk show host/pundit that is mentioned here. It's all about lowering voter turnout, dont forget that and dont let them do it to you.

1. They are trying to discourage us
so we feel like there's no point in working for the campaign or even voting. We must not let ourselves fall into that trap. Republicans benefit by low voter turnout. Every time you feel depresssed by an unfavorable poll or a negative media report, go do somthing for the campaign. The more discouraged we get, the harder we have to work.

2. You are right on the mark. That is also why they like the dirty laundry
campaign. Disgusts people so they just don't vote. Low turn out favors them.

5. Sounds like a few people over here at Du may be working for them to
all these depressing post. This is were some of the base hangs out and they know it- so they post these depressing threads - but try to cover themselves by saying "read it and weep" or "puke alert" etc. I am not saying we should be shielded from the truth - but when the Repug memes get bantered about here that is a bit much.

6. Right you are!
That's what I've been thinking, too. This is one of their tricks, just like *'s cousin calling the Florida race for *.

I think we've seen some posts that help the *s do their dirty work. Don't fall for it!

7. Rove is no fool about this stuff
There is no doubt that he knew this Guard stuff was gonna surface before the election...knew that people were digging...knew it would not good for his boy. The Smearboat was a preemptive strike. Now the media can talk about negative advertising from BOTH sides, "they all do it", "DEMS say this but what about that", "questions about both candidates military service". The disgust and turnoff at the 'dirty politics" is all to the good for GOP... lowering turnout is the goal...especially among women and INDs. Counting on the GOP footsoldiers marching religiously to the polls. It's all about turnout and the EC. There may be a miscalculation here, though, 'cause I believe the anti-Bush are more motivated than the pro-Bush. But Rove has no choice. The math is bad for him and he must do what he can.

8. A decrease in voter turnout is Rove's election day dream.
