2. The man's got ambition, that's for certain.
Most who know him think the beltway is in his future, one way or another. He's not too well liked by other high ranking officers either, so it might be a wise move on that account, as well.

In a Palinized GOP, I doubt he'd get very far, his military record notwithstanding.

He's too smart to challenge Obama. David's politically astute, he wouldn't do it. There is a better chance that he'd be part of Obama's administration than an opponent.
