Even the children are rejoicing that Barack Obama was elected
I was doing an errand downtown and saw a group of very young children being walked by a couple day care teachers on this incredibly beautiful day. They had all stopped at a corner where a number of newspapers are available and were reading the headlines. They represented just about every race.

The USA Today has a huge title that say "Obama Wins!" on the cover that can be seen in the display box. I overheard one teacher ask if it was good news that Barack Obama was elected. The kids cheered! They started jumping and were obviously very happy.

As the kids walked by, it really dawned on me that they will probably remember what happened last night all their life. It couldn't have been a more hopeful moment.

1. My 10 y.o. son and I were dancing around the living room last night.

Both of us dancing around in circles, me with tears running down my face.

I hope he remembers last night for the rest of his life.

2. My son doesn't 'understand' the extra significance
that made Jesse Jackson and a host of others break down in tears. He is 12 and very smart, but they just don't think the way the 'older folks' think, because he hasn't experienced the same things.

He commented that everyone was crying while Obama was speaking as if 'why are they doing that?'

He doesn't get what the big deal is. He will eventually understand, but by not having the experiences that many of us have had, will never truly get it.

I for one, am glad about that.
