Fair Weather Democrats? (Indiana)
One of our local weather casters pointed out that on only three times in the last 100 years has the temperature in Indiana topped 70 degrees on election day; yesterday, 1964 and 1932.

Oddly enough, those are also the only three times in the last century that the democratic candidate for president has won Indiana.

Now I know that Obama won here because of the hard work of a huge number of staff and volunteers but I find the weather connection very interesting.

For me, it's Democrat, rain or shine.

1932, 1936, 1964 and this year:

Since 1908 (the last 100 years) Indiana has gone Democratic in the following years
1912:

1932

1936:

1964:

2008:

Indiana also went Democratic in 1892, 1884, 1876, 1856, 1852, 1848, 1844, 1832, 1828, 1824, 1820, and 1816 (Indiana was a territory in 1812 so not vote in the Presidential Election). Indiana was much more Democratic in the early 1800s then it has been since the Civil War, becoming even more Republican in the 20th Century.

2. Interesting.
So the weather guy left out 1936 because it didn't fit into his pattern.

How typical of the MSM is that?

3. Also left out 1912, which is within the last 100 years.

Now 1912 was the year you had three people running for President (i.e. Three Serious Candidates, Wilson, for the Democrats, Taft for the Republicans and Theodore Roosevelt as a "Bull Moose" candidate. Thus a three way vote.

Now I only added 1912 as an update and after you posted your comment, and I regret any problems that may have caused.
