When Virginia did not come in our column as quickly as I thought it would. That was alleviated when we won Ohio.

1. Watching Florida

At one point McCain had gotten up to 49%. Then I had to go AFK to a rehearsal. During the rehearsal somebody got a text that Obama had won.

2. Yup it was Virginia

Yup it was Virginia being a late call...and when Chuckie Todd seemed momentarily doubtful by saying "he hadn't won any red states yet"...I almost had a meltdown!

3. That was one reason to watch the coverage on CNN...

AC showed the county breakdowns of the states. Virginia came late because northern Virginia was one of the last areas to be counted.

Same in Indiana...we were way down, but they didn't have returns from Gary.

And Ohio...we were up, but Cuyahoga County hadn't released any totals.

4. I was nervous when they had McHate 8 and Obama 3...

I knew it wasn't rational, and I was embarrassed about it, so I didn't even post it here, but it just made me nervous.

I was on pins and needles until PA came in. SO happy!

5. Virginia was a little unsettling

But level heads on here kept saying that NOVA and Richmond were still out, and they were right.

6. When red state after red state kept coming through

Georgia, Kansas, South Dakota, Oklahoma, etc. There was a block of them that came in one after the other and even though I knew these states don't offer much in the electoral college (5 here, 7 there, etc.) it was still nevertheless disconcerting. Frustrating as well, seeing a sea of red states popping up to contrast the smaller blue enclave of states in the Northeast and Midwest, though of course the population in these latter areas is so much higher (and hence the more valuable electoral votes).

This didn't make me think for a moment that McCain might still put out a win, but it was nevertheless disturbing.

7. Me too. Virginia gave me a mini-freak out.

I was flashing back to 2004 when we were waiting for Ohio to come out ...
