Nader is off the ballot in Florida
A state district judge in effect ruled that the Reform Party is defunct and that Nader should not be on the ballot See http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/news/local/9614100.htm Forida is suppose to certify the ballot for the 67 counties soon so that ballots can be sent overseas. It may be difficult for Nader to get on the ballot in Florida now.

1. I am so sick of this. I can't WAIT til we get some election reform
so that we stop getting excited over who is NOT on the ballot instead of who IS.

7. I love this quote
See http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/politics/9614058.htm

The Florida Democratic Party is suing to keep Nader off the ballot, saying the Reform Party isn't a viable party and that it didn't actually nominate Nader and running mate Peter Comejo during a convention held late last month. The party held a conference call earlier this year to nominate Nader.

"If Ralph Nader complied with Florida law and was legitimately on the ballot, I wouldn't fight him," said state Democratic Party Chairman Scott Maddox. "Instead he tried to circumvent the process by getting involved with a defunct party and a sham convention process."

9. This is very significant.
Gore only won Florida in 2000 by a couple of hundred votes. Not including the African Americans who were denied their right to vote.

11. Actually, Gore lost Florida by several hundred votes,
while Nader got about 100,000 votes.
Yes, I would say it's important if Nader doesn't get on the ballot.

10. Update-Judge is poistive Nader will not be on Florida Ballot
See http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/politics/9622107.htm

The ruling, issued late Wednesday night, prevents Secretary of State Glenda Hood from certifying Nader's place on the ballot until a full hearing takes place. Circuit Judge Kevin Davey strongly indicated Thursday that the order would become permanent, saying he wouldn't have issued it if he thought Nader and running mate Peter Camejo properly qualified for the ballot.

"I'm quite confident in the ruling. There's at least 15 reasons as to why they won't qualify, at least 15 that I counted up," Davey said during a status hearing. "If it was one or two, I'd be worried about it, but there's a whole lot of reasons Mr. Nader and Mr. Camejo aren't going to appear on the ballot in Florida."
