If I were to die tomorrow, I could now go in peace
knowing that I worked the hardest to leave to my grandchildren a nation held in capable hands and with a future.

This election has meant so much. It has been the downpayment on a future for us and the world. Over the past seven years, I have watched four little people enter the world and start to explore it and I wondered all the while how we could have allowed group of criminals such as these run rampant and dismantle our nation brick by brick.

I feel at ease this morning and certain that we now have a new beginning at the end of one of the truly dark times in our history. And it was truly dark. We stood at the edge and stared into the black void of our collective soul.

I have a phone call to make this morning before the school day begins. I'm going to talk to a 6-year-old boy who learned about how we make rules as a people and how we choose the people who make up those rules--my companion for watching early morning news during the election when we had chances to be together. I'm going to tell him about how grandma worked at the polls yesterday to make certain that his President Obama was chosen by making everyone's vote count. I'm going to tell him that he did a good job of paying attention to these thingss now and that his chance will come to carry forward after he learns to carry in math. But this morning, we'll enjoy talking about our new President and I'll feel content that he has a chance at a good future in front of him.

4. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. My grandson called me last night
and said, "I'll be okay now mamaw.. when I'm grown up, I'll have a good President."
