Help! Bushbot friend...but maybe with some gentle prodding...?
Help me! I have a friend in PA who is voting Bush on the sole base that she thinks Kerry is dishonest. I'm trying to present my case to her, but without some immediate information, I'm lost.

Fellow DUers...Help!

1. Bush by the numbers
140 Number of Saudis, including members of the Bin Laden family, evacuated from United States almost immediately after 11 September.

3. There was a convenient Bush flip-flop
file floating around DU today and yesterday. Also, has she not been paying attention to the AWOL scandal? He is obviously being dishonest about his service, while military records back all of Kerry's claims.

And PLEASE, direct her toward Bob Graham's allegations about Shrub covering up for his Saudi buddies.

2. lol are you serious?
Are you looking for all information pertaining to Bush, Kerry, GOP and the Dems, Sept. 11th, War on Terra, PNAC, and the current political situation in the US and the world? Only then will you be able to establish the relative levels of honesty of Bush and Kerry and their relative values as presidents.

What I'm trying to say is, if you want some info, you gotta be more specific.

4. Cute.
Anyway, you're right, I should have, but I was hyperventilating as I typed the message.

-SBVT connections to * administration
-Any recent articles on *'s National Guard records (or lack thereof)
-Bush administration racism
-Bush administration homophobia

Those are all good. I'd much appreciate it.

5. I managed to convince two hawkish/skeptical people to vote for Kerry...
just on the sole fact that Shrub opposed the 9/11 commission. What kind of War on Terra is he purporting to fight when he didn't even want to investigate the largest intelligence failure in our nation's history?

6. before my computer crashed, I had a favorite site that showed
two very long columns. The first was Bush's promises. The second was how Bush did the OPPOSITE of what he promised. I think one example was his promise to reduce pollution, and the 'fulfillment' of that was that he made more pollution acceptable...and he did that WITHOUT Congress, in defiance of laws passed by Congress, so that baby is on his head alone, with his Executive Orders.

I am sure I got that website here on DU. Maybe someone else has it?
It was really great. What more proof of a liar do you need, then say one thing and do the exact opposite?

The list was very long.

7. Give this a try.....

Turn off Rush Limbaugh for a while and try to think for yourself.

Kerry came out of Nam with a fire to do what was right for his country. If you watched him on TV at that time....what did you see.....but a thoughtful person who saw his country digging itself a hole....and rather than punk out.....he decided to do something.

His words at the time expressed how deeply saddened he was about the Vietnam war and how this country had gotten off course. Go back and look at the tapes. You'll see a mature person, an unselfish demeanor, and true concern.

Kerry didn't jip himself or anyone in 2 tours of duty and leaving 4 months after swiftboad duty. He served honorably and wasn't afraid to take some heat in speaking out against a war which as been historically recognized as a dismal failure.

At that point Kerry started to realize how important it was to speak out. He developed his first interest in politics at this time, with high ideals about how to fight for what was right.

It is those that speak out and take on difficult issues that have made this country great.

Meanwhile, Bush is drunk and feeding off his family's influence. Is there an inherent difference here that might have something to do with who is being HONEST IN LIFE?

This history and the way it all happened is especially illustrious of Kerry's particular roots in the issues which are so important to us now...especially now concerning the war in Iraq.

Who do you want leading this country....a guy who gets off on power or someone that has a real political motive to do the right thing?

There is issue in which Kerry may not be completely honest at this point...and this is all to our benefit in the end.....and that's his anti-war stance on Iraq. He has tipped toed around the Iraq war issue because he has seen the intensity with which the country has wanted retribution...and he also knows he can't come out ANTI-WAR because this is a sure recipe for his defeat.

But there is one thing we can be assured of. When Kerry gets in....he'll bring a no-BS historical perspective to the table. He'll find a way to rally world support and bring troops home.

Meanwhile Bush's apparent unwavering commitment to kicking ass will do nothing except waste more human lives.
