A question about the AWOL 'memos'
The right wing nutters are SURE that the memos are forgeries. I was going to answer them on a board I post to arguing that the WH themselves released them, and they wouldn;t release anything damning to AWOL if there was ANY suspicion of them being bogus.

I went to a link said to contain the 'white house' released memos, and they have 'cbs news' on them, like they came from a fax machine :

"On the Net:

"Documents released by the White House are available at:"

http://wid.ap.org/documents/bush/040908xfer.pdf

Did the WH releases their OWN copies of the memos ? Are they on the WH site somewhere ? I looked !

1. CBS interviewed one of Killian's friends
who said the writing style, the signatures, and the sentiments expressed were consistent with what he knew of his friend.

This is going to be one of those things that will never be conclusively proven one way or the other.

4. I was under the impression CBS got the documents from Air Guard
Microfiche, ergo, they cannot be forgeries.

2. You know ?
I think that is correct .. the WH tried to 'pre-empt- the release with their own release ....

So: Did The Bush WH 'forge' those memos ? ...

Hardly ...

3. Drudge is saying the same thing
that the memos are forgeries made on a table top computer.

What a dork. They are so fucking desperate.

5. 1941 Army issue IBM proportional space typewriter was used - this
proves that Windows added nothing to the beauty of the typed memo - and this proves what to the right wing GOP types?

10. The conservative sites like FR...
are spinning all the recent bad news so hard you can see smoke rising. It's absolutely pathetic.

11. It was a 1966 IBM that added the superscript I believe - and CBS verified
that they were legit

and the WH does not even try to say that they are not legit!

7. We'll know soon enough
The charge sounds ridiculous, but not altogether implausible considering the stakes.

Now that they've been challenged, a forensic document analysis should confirm or disprove the memos' validity soon enough.

9. The White House has not questioned their validity & Bush certainly
would know whether their contents are true since they report his interactions with Killian. If they're forgeries, Bush would know it and the White House would be screaming bloody murder right now.

12. The White House itself...
...released the Kilian memos...I guess the freepers figure John Kerry is so evil that he somehow finagled the White House to do his dirty work for him. Poor Karl Rove, helpless against John Kerry's satanic mesmeric powers.
