So since when do soldiers give the orders and...
Military leaders follow? Bush was ordering his military leaders to brake the rules for him. How shameful is that? Can any soldier make demands like bush did? My stepson is in the military, he can request away ahead of time, time off. My stepson has 4 kids. If his kids get sick, he can't take it on his own to not report or arrogantly demand time off.

The last time my stepson had a family emergency, one of his little girls was bitten by a copperhead snake while camping. He was only given 1/2 a day off. Heartbroken as he was, he reported back to his unit. His little girl was in the hospital for 5 days. Thank God, she's ok.

Unless you're well connected, rich, and arrogant, refusing Military orders will get you in big trouble.

1. Killian's own memo said Bush was going over his head
and that there was nothing he could do about it.

That's the problem with people who think they're aristocrats. They think they're entitled to a position far above the rules and laws that the rest of us are compelled to obey.

I think it's high time we start demonstrating that they're not, starting with party boy Bush.

2. My friend, the former Adjutant General...
Is quite clear about the magnitude of the breakdown in the system that allowed all of this to happen. Suffice to say, at another time in another place, a similar situation resulted in rather significant penalties.

This stuff was not, and never has been, meant to happen. It is completely outside of acceptable NG policy. Full stop.

4. Bush's new defense?
"Is quite clear about the magnitude of the breakdown in the system that allowed all of this to happen."

So maybe that should be Bush's defense - "but everybody else was doing it too, why shouldn't the same lack of enforcement of the rules apply to me too?"
