Now this is a HOOT!!!!!!!!
In the discussion on the Army times article on His AWOLness, Trajan posted the link to the Air Force Times article (both are same, AP wire copy), well that my friends has one of the best one-two punches I've seen so far on this subject.

Look at the issue photo next to the article (left)

1. Dead men don't talk, but their CYA memos do . . .
I can’t explain why that wouldn’t be in his record, but they were found in Jerry Killian’s personal records," White House communications director Dan Bartlett told CBS’s "60 Minutes II," which first obtained the memos.

I bet I can, Dan. Because someone destroyed them, figuring that would be the end of it, not anticipating that Jerry Killian kept a copy in his personal records.

2. Hell, my father-in-law even kept his kit ration records!
The non-military idiots assigned to scrub George W.'s records were too incompetent to understand how important records were and are to those who served honorably.

3. And certainly didn't figure that other copies were stored somewhere
But any officer smart and wary enough to write "CYA" memos also knows to maintain copies of them outside in case they disappear from the official record.

4. Kick
And I'm surprised no one picked up on the title of the issue photo to the left of the article:

Did You Rate These Madals?

Doesn't anybody do irony anymore?
