1. Folks, this is BIG
If it's in the Army Times, then it's going to make some waves with the military voters. This is great to see. It's about time!

3. Should be great for morale
This should be great for morale for our soldiers to know that some rich privelidged kids can do as they please with no consequenses while others can be put in jail for failing to report for duty. These soldiers must now follow this commander in chief's orders. There is clearly a mixed message that the RULE OF LAW applies heavily to some and not at all for others. Once the rule of law is gone, ANARCHY results.

6. I wonder though
This is the current AP wire copy. But under the "Discuss this Story" link, I noted that it had been put up at 8:29 (0829) today as the top (and only) issue in "Public Discussion" forum, with zero replies.

Wonder if any current personnel will dare to post there in the next few hours (already been 2 by my watch).

7. A privileged brat's dadfriend pressures a commander to BACKDATE documents
to cover for his nogood son. The commander is mad, but does it anyway while refusing to give the nogood son a positive rating.

Is there any doubt that Bush's honorable discharge was obtained the same way?

16. after they finish their hash fueled drum circles
maybe they can start reporting the facts.

Army Times is nothing but a haven for patchouli scented, bongo playing, opium addicted peace activist beatniks who disdain Jesus in favor of Fidel castro and despise Bush because of his Christian faith, just like the majority of the liberal press.

13. IIRC, the Army Times was asking for Secretary of Defense........
Donald Rumsfeld's resignation back in April or May, whenever the Abu Ghraib torture scandal first broke.

I thought that was huge at the time and I know active duty military personnel had to be paying attention to that.

I also hope active duty people were payng attention to the fact that several high-ranking, recently retired military retirees were on-stage at the Democratic National Convention supporting John Kerry.

The repubs could only get Tommy Franks to go on-stage in support of shrub.

15. What my hub says.....
The reason why no one comes forward to agree or disagree on bush's absence from the military is that many other people who are presently in government will also be outed. They are all keeping each other's secret, and they will be both republicans and democrats.

It is known that the Guard was a heaven for rich kids with powerful political parents, like bush, to hide and stay away from serving in the Vietnam war. The problem is that the investigation is only about bush. Who were the other rich kids hiding along with bush? If they can find some of those rich kids, they will get to the bottom of how bush went AWOL too.

20. Sad
It is sad that we resort to saying a paper had 'guts' to present the truth about our CIC's military record during a time of war. Where did America go?

22. very disappointing indeed
but I think it is more a question of losing readers than fear of repression that causes this 'news gap'.

Nevertheless, Army Times hasn't flinched lately when it comes to putting in relevant stuff re: The Bush crew.

21. Marine Times too!
http://www.marinetimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-344686.php

It's a sad moment in our country's history when we say a news service has the guts to print a story. No, not only a sad moment, it's a frightening moment - and I pray that it is not a long-lasting moment.

and I hope the story doesn't evaporate suddenly. I don't trust the media too far. If they are told to shut-up . . .

24. Interesting too
For the NG troops that are fighting over there and dealing with extended deployments and with knowing their families are struggling at home. Food for thought that when it was Shrub's turn, he could find sanctuary in the NG - but not them.
