7. Lobster!
Unfortunately for the lobster fishermen, prices are way down and fuel costs are eating them up. :(

But it's down to $3.99 a pound here on the coast.

Mrs. D. and I only have it on the most special of occasions. Washed down with my aforementioned (upthread) bottle of Piper Sonoma Blanc de Noirs.

Leftover Halloween candy for dessert, if there's room.

26. I'd describe the flavor as...
...somewhat sweet (as far as any meat could be described thusly), mild, with just a touch of "game" flavor, but not "gamey." A touch of garlic and mint jelly make those flavors sing.

IMHO, if it's cooked past medium, toss all of that out and you end up with dry grey meat that tastes like a poorly seasoned pot roast.

Oh, and it's far more easily digested than beef or pork, and most cuts are far less fatty.

25. Nachos with jalapenos
Oh God, last stolen election we had a big party with plenty to eat and drink, ready to celebrate. We even had a map on the wall to color the map blue. Afraid to do that again so we're keeping it small, just my husband and me. We'll be having homemade nachos with dark beer and champagne for when the states come rolling in.

27. bizarre potluck. I'm doing pork with adobo and other stuff for a fillin
for tortillas and a smoked salmon pizza. We're also having all kinds of pates and cheeses, a big tossed salad, guacomole. There are about 15 of us, and we'll probably all end up sick as a dog with all this stuff.

28. How about inviting some of us over? :)
We've lost everything, even the car and have been food banking for weeks, when we have bus fare.. Wish I was kidding :)

Hoping Obama will turn this all around, can't believe we spent a couple of hundred thousand fighting Bush since 2001 and are in this state of affairs now, paid for much needed medication with stacks of penny rolls Friday, I know first hand how grim it is for folks out there..

Don't mean to be captain bummer here, my drooling got the better of me :)

Take bite for us, eh? (I AM Happy for this day, every one is a gift!)

Go Obama!!

Buffalo wings
Steak fries
Four kinds of pie (apple, key lime, coconut cream, and banana cream--all made from scratch. OBAMA PIES! :))
Fresh veggies (celery, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli) and dip
Assorted chips/snacks

And to drink, champagne and chocolate martinis!

35. I went out shopping for coconut cream pie.
Had to go to two stores, but finally found one. Both stores sold out of one I wanted. Lots of other kinds of pie, but no coconut cream. Hope that was a good sign. Champagne on ice also. The liquor store was very festive today. Lots of happy customers.

37. Good ol' Southern comfort food.
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn-on-the-cob, biscuits and gravy. Sweet potato pie for dessert, cause it's my favorite and apparently Obama likes it, too!

I've got a bottle of Bud (one of those big ones), and there are a couple of bottles of Guiness hiding in the back of the fridge, and my older boys might have a little white wine.

I'll either be partying hard, or crying in my beer.

47. We'll probably stick with snack foods - cheese and crackers, quesadillas, that sort of thing.
I have to go to Girl Scouts between 6:00 and 7:45 mountain time, so I can't crack open and special beverages before I get home. We had some delicious wine, cheese and bread for lunch, but that'll be it until after Girl Scouts.

The last thing I want to do is head out to GS tonight, but I'm a co-leader, and I made a commitment of leadership I need to honor.
