WH Intimidating Media not to book Kitty Kelley
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:35 AM by rmpalmer
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/09/politics/campaign/09book.html?ei=5006&en=718787dad442f371&ex=1095393600&partner=ALTAVISTA1&pagewanted=print&position=

Anticipating a barrage of unflattering accusations and innuendo about President Bush's personal life in a soon-to-be-published book by the celebrity biographer Kitty Kelley, the Bush campaign has opened a wave of advance counterstrikes intended to undermine her credibility.

A representative of the White House recently called Neal Shapiro, president of NBC News, to discourage that network from broadcasting interviews with Ms. Kelley about the book on its "Today'' program and on its MSNBC cable program "Hardball With Chris Matthews,'' a network executive said.

The Republican Party distributed a memorandum this week to conservative radio talk show hosts listing tawdry, unproved assertions in Ms. Kelley's previous books, especially her biography of Nancy Reagan. And Ed Gillespie, the party chairman, sent a letter to supporters portraying her book as a tool of the Democrats' campaign.

"This book is fiction and deserves to be treated as such,'' said Christine Iverson, a Republican spokeswoman.

I think the fools are going to help her make this a bestseller. BTW, tonight Sludge is reporting the SBL's book at near 89,000. Last I heard publisher was upping Kelley's book to 750,000. Think we should blast media telling them we want to see Kitty interviewed.

1. Put up or shut up time for the republicans
If it's not true they'll have to sue. (That's my Johnny Cochran impression)

4. The book is a lose-lose for the WH.
The more they slam Kelley the more publicity they give her the more curious people are to read the book and thus learn about the many evils of the BFEE. If they simply ignore it (which they're not) they would be lending credibility to it. Either way, they won't be suing.

Maybe Kelley should do a book on his life history. Naw, that might amount to about 4 pages.

... discredited, book taken out of publication (later published by Soft Skull Press), found dead of a 'drug overdose' in a motel room.

These scum will do anything to control the desimination of truth.

9. "This book is fiction and deserves to be treated as such,''
Yeah, like poppy never helping young shrub get in to the National guard. I think that piece of fiction is starting to become reality.
The networks will be in quite a quandary if they listen to the WH. If this book goes to the top of the bestsellers list (which it seems to be already) then will the networks choose ratings or pressure from the WH?

So far she's booked for 3 days on Today interviewed by Matt Lauer - bet he's nasty! Also booked on MSNBC, Faux, CNN (I think).

The book is #3 on Amazon and #4 on B&N

If he could read and write, had any balls and a leg to stand on, he could write a nasty letter to the editor or say something.

Back to the Ranch!

16. They just don't get it...
You'd think, after all the free publicity garnered by Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, not to mention the mountain of free publicity Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right got in the wake of lawsuit threats from Fox, the Right would back off when it comes to criticizing things like this.

Hang on a second--what am I saying?! Rave on, Bushies, rave on.

29. No armed insurrection will be possible
if all the {guns are evil} crowd prevail.

In spite of the fact that gun control is consistently a lose/lose issue, they insist on political correctness.

26. She did a book on the british Royals, . . .
. . .and she has such a killer legal team, even the Royal family couldn't stop her or shut her up. Besides, if there wasn't some measure of truth in what she says, she'd get sued into the NEXT century!!

27. Just looked at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com...
Amazon.com: #3 right behind Swift Boat Liars.
Barnes and Noble: #4 also right behind Swift Boat Liars.

I ordered my copy a couple of days ago. I do not intend to read this trash and will paper the neighbor's parakeet cage with its pages.

Please, please, please don't buy or read this rag. Beware of the virus that redirects you to Barnes & Noble or Amazon to order this disgusting piece of filth. It happened to me!

If you must buy this book, please buy as many copies as you can to keep them out of the hands of impressionable young minds.

28. How to make something NOT go away. Try to get it to do so.
Did any of you hear what Keith Olbermann said about John McCain's comments at the RNC about F 9-11? F 9-11 went UP 10% in profits the week after McCain mentioned MM and the movie at the convention. And it was in LESS theaters but still made MORE money! lmao. Poor MM. Every time people pick on him, he makes more money. :)
