Texans for Truth website and commercials

The funny thing is - this type of campaigning is so wrong but the best medicine to combat the crap started by the Republicans. Oh sure, repukes are already out their spinning their heads spewing green pea soup about how this organization is tied to the Kerry campaign and how all those nasty 527s are doing Kerry's dirty work.

But repukes fail to even consider that they started this mess with the Swiftboat ads. When you look at some of the major 527 groups out there, many of them have existed for years including some of the biggest liberal groups like MoveOn, League for Conservation Voters and Sierra Club. What tarnishes the names of the legitimate 527s out there are groups just like the Swiftboats that only recently formed and for the soul purpose of creating a Willie Horton smear-style campaign against another candidate.

"Texans for Truth" is pretty much the liberal clone of the "Swiftboat Vets for Truth" Heck, watch their commercial and their ad pretty much is formated in the same manner as Swiftboats. But my daddy taught me a long time ago that sometimes the only way to fight fire is with fire. What better way to show republicans what an bad idea Swiftboats really are by mirroring that organization right back into their face. John Kerry will do the same as Bush did in regards to the ads - he'll claim no connection to the group, denounce the ad and say that Bush "served nobly" during his time in the Texas Air National Guard.

So as much as this type of commercial campaigning brings bile to my throat, I tolerate it because this is the only way we can fight back against Bush. This is the same feeling I have towards the new Kitty Kelley book due out soon that is to trash the Bush family with gossip from anonymous friends of the family.

Maybe now the Boston Globe story is out they can add something
stronger before running the AD.

3. Why should Kerry denounce an ad that is the truth?
Screw that.

(1)It's not Kerry's ad.

(2)Bush didn't denounce SwiftBoaters.

(3)Bush wanted to play hardball and had the first serve. Bush set these rules (not a gentleman's game) and now has to live by them.

6. seems like you want to escallate the war!
"this type of campaigning is so wrong but the best medicine to combat the crap started by the Republicans"

They already know on some level that they're lying RE: Kerry. It's kind of like some people can at the same time a) believe Breaking a Command in the Bible is a sin b) know it command you to stone unruly children, and c) stoning unruly children is a sin

I don't think anybody denies that Bush was in the ANG to avoid active duty in Vietnam.

Maybe this will do some good in that some people will a) believe Kerry didn't deserve his Purple Hearts, and b) know that Bush's "duty" in the Guard wasn't a duty to anything but himself.

And they'll just think "this is too confusing, AI'm not going to think about it" ... some then won't vote for either and some may just look at what kind of Presidents they'd be.
