Election Night Helper: Guide to All 50 States and D.C.'s Results' Pages
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 10:45 PM by victoryparty08
I've posted this before, but I was asked to post it again closer to Election Day so it could be made into a sticky in time for Election Day.

It is a guide to all 50 states' (and D.C's) Election Divisions pages. It also includes some potentially important city/county/congressional district information for states that could end up being close. Not all links will take you directly to a given state's results page, but at the very least they will take you to a state site, such as the Secretary of State's office, that will tell you where to click next to find the live results. Click now and bookmark for tomorrow:

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/1590273-page-http-sos-hava

The first test will be when the Indiana results come in. If the networks say that McCain is up 54-46 but don't tell us what counties have and haven't reported, a quick visit to the Indiana page will reveal whether or not Lake County (Gary) and Marion County (Indianapolis) totals are in. If they were still to come, things would be looking good for Obama in Indiana.

For some states, potentially important city/county/congressional district information is also included. In general, urban areas and major university centers tend to vote Democratic. Let’s say that almost all the counties in Indiana, for example, have reported. The results stand at 48 percent for Obama, 48 percent for McCain and 4 percent for other. A quick check of the Indiana Elections Division page might reveal that Lake County has not yet reported its results, meaning that the returns from Gary are still out. In that instance, things would bode well for Sen. Obama in Indiana. If Lake County had filed but a few more rural counties had not, things would look better for Sen. McCain.

At the time this report was compiled, not all states had gone live with their Election Night results page. On Nov. 4, you may have to look on the site linked to above to find another link for the actual results page, but don't worry - it will be easy to find.

Some states will have two links, to the Elections Division page and the Secretary of State’s main page. These links were all tested on Oct. 21, the day this report was filed. Their accuracy cannot be guaranteed beyond that date.

Have a great Election Night, and may all the returns be accurate!

3. Thanks for the link, I will bookmark it, but..
I noticed an error, it stated that OMAHA was in OMAHA County, this is inaccurate, Omaha is Douglas County.
