The Senate Majority leader is so far down in the line of sucession, it tells you how little power the founders placed on it. The Senate Majority leader only real power is to set the agenda and that is about it.

I've been an Obama supporter since October 2, 2002. I supported him for the U.S. Senate when he was a nobody in Chicago and everybody thought Blair Hull would win. I supported him through it all. I first donated to his presidential campaign the day he announced in Springfield in answer to an email from his Senaotrial race database because I was a donor in 2004 for the senate race prior to anybody ever hearing about him.

I knew he would one day be president when I heard him speak in Federal Plaza on October 2, 2002.

Durbin's been one of my senators since I moved to Illinois in 1997.

Durbin discovered Obama. It was Durbin who recommended Obama for the keynote spot to Kerry in 2004.

Durbin is a party guy. He'll always do what's in the best interest of the party.

I find it interesting that you can't stand a woman who has been doing so much effective campaigning for Obama all over the country. A couple of the analysts on CNN the other night said that the Obama camp has been absolutely thrilled by her hard work on behalf of the ticket. Plus she's been out helping down-ticket Dems too. But, yeah, you can't stand her so I guess that's all that matters.

Here I am thinking that not proposing the most divisive politician we have as Majority Leader might not be a good idea right off the bat, because it could be a good idea to show the other side that our way is better and maybe getting a lot more voters in 2012 and beyond would be better than turning them off immediately. Wow, do I feel foolish thinking of the long term strategy of our party and the chance to make Republicans politically irrelevant once for all instead of thinking that we should extend our middle fingers to everyone who doesn't like Hillary.
