Today's hero: DAVID GREGORY (NBC)
It was David Gregory who asked Bush for comment on Cheney's attack on Kerry, and then endured the 1,000 yard stare from Bush.

David Gregory! NBC WH correspondent.

He's the one who dared to speak French in Bush's hearing, too.

Salut!

1. I do think David Gregory is one of the better press whores. . .
Shrub can't stand him either-and apparently with good reason. Note to self--need to send thank-you to David Gregory for having the balls to ask the question. I'm sure he was taken out back and beaten immediately following the photo op.

you're kidding, right?

somebody on another thread put it quite well

he's one of the prime bush DEFENDERS, and proved it once again tonight

dunno what makes you think he's any kind of reporter, other than whore

no offense intended, but I'm pretty sure that most here will go along with the whore impression

14. You must not have seen how John King SHAMELESSLY spun the TANG story to
absolve Bush of any wrongdoing. He has an "expert" who states that Bush did everything that he was required to do. Catch CNN Headline News they've been replaying it I think every hour.

19. Thanks for the e-mail address!
I've sent him an big thank you! I didn't realize that he sat with Helen during the press conferences. I love him all the more now! And he is funny! I remember last year they had this story where they were going to have some sort of White House thing for the WH correspondents and * was telling everyone to keep an eye on David Gregory and make sure he didn't steal any of the silverwear. Well, they did this bit on Countdown where David opens up his coat and shows all this silverwear hidden in his coat. It was hysterical.

5. It's hard to imagine that Terry Moran and Greg Jarrett
both worked for court tv at the same time. Jarreett is a "Major league asshole."

15. uh............
Terry Moran apparently took one for Bush tonight. He gave great credence to Calhoun (whose story of seeing Bush in AL has been discredited).

Here's what Josh Marshall said about Moran's piece:

On ABC this evening, Terry Moran has a piece that runs down the state of play on the Bush Guard issue. In addition to taking an extremely skeptical view of the questions about and criticisms of the lapses in the president's service, he repeats the claims of James "Bill" Calhoun, who says he saw young George W. Bush show up for his drills as many as six times during the period in question.

"I have no doubt in my mind that it was George W. Bush that he made his drills," Moran quotes Calhoun telling him. "He was very professional. He came in uniform. He signed in. He was very low-key."

What he doesn't mention is that six months ago numerous press reports noted that records showed that Bush hadn't even been assigned to the unit in question at the time Calhoun remembers seeing him there.

See Atlanta Journal Constitution, "Memories place Bush in Alabama if records don't," Feb. 13th, 2004, among other examples.

3. I'll always remember David Gregory's name
in conjunction with the French snide comment from bush.

That's why this is even more brave cause they have a history.

7. If you watch WH press briefings on C-Span
David Gregory drives them bananas.

He usually sits with Helen Thomas & asks question after question, & keeps insisting on an answer, even though he knows he isn t going to get it.

That's so awesome and kind
of ironic to me because when I still had cable.. I use to see David Gregory as the white house correspondent on one of those channels and just mute him out or change the channel because I didn't want to hear the lies coming forth.

I shoulda kept him on and been surprised by how fair he surely must have been.

16. David Gregory seems like a really good guy,
& is funny, & a great imitator.

There was a big banquet roast for Tom Brokaw, because he is retiring, & it was on C-Span. Maureen Dowd was one of the speakers, & was brilliantly cutting.

Then they switched to a film of Tom Brokaw(supposedly) & it was David Gregory impersonating him. Had Brokaw down cold, with exaggerated motions & speech. He bragged about what a wonderful newsman he was & dropped names of famous people all over the world. It was the highlight of the evening.
