Not overconfident. Just rested and ready.

And DOWN the stretch they come . . .

1. The horse racing world takes cheating very seriously, unlike the political world
If this were a horse race, I'd feel more confident in the outcome. It's easier to cheat in a Presidential election than a horse race, unfortunately.

2. Interesting Analogy
I live in a neighborhood where all the house models, streets & neighborhood is named after race horses and horse racing events.

3. I never will forget that race
what is it? 1.5 miles? A distance that even the best usually fade in the stretch or even the final turn. And Secretariat won by like 12 or 15 lengths. He was an awesome horse.

6. It was more like 30 lengths.
Go watch the video on YouTube.

I remember setting in my apartment drinking a beer and watching that race in total disbelief. That had to be the most dominating athletic performance in history.

9. Just took a break from Keith to watch it. Tears in my eyes.
I know it's just a damned horse (spare me, concern trolls), but it was absolutely magical.

Wait till tomorrow at this time.

8. Thanks! One of the all-time great sports moments. I remember where I was.
I remember exactly where I was (Kegabrew Saloon, Detroit - we went there to watch it; it was something of a hangout - I was 21 at the time).

I will never forget that jaw-dropping performance. Wow. I stood and stared at the TV, beer in hand, just stunned.

10. He ran so magnificently...
The others looked as though they were standing still...

What a magnificent horse!

K&R

And what a perfect analogy for today, and tomorrow!

I remember crying and having chills run up my spine as Secretariat headed for the finish line in the Belmont, capturing the Triple Crown.

I am probably going to have the same sensations tomorrow night when Obama is officially declared the winner too.

15. Secretariat lost the primary
He ran a dull third to Angle Light and Sham in the race preceding the Kentucky Derby, the Wood Memorial.

17. Little known fact: that wasn't the only race Secretariat ever ran at a mile and a half at Belmont
Here's the video of the other one, a few months later:
