Like it or not, TomInTib and DU made the Marin Independent Journal.
Many Marin Republicans are secretive about political persuasion

http://www.marinij.com/marinnews/ci_10878266?IADID=Sear...

Well, those assholes may be "secretive" (read - chickenshit), but I am not.

From article:

<>

In September, Tom Wright, a Democrat who manages an art gallery in Tiburon, proudly recounted a story on the Web site www.democraticunderground.com about how he refused to sell an expensive artifact to a woman because she was wearing a "Sarah in '08" pin and expressing her strong support for the Alaskan governor.

Wright said he has no regrets.

"Politics has turned into warfare, but they started it first," he said. "You start pushing someone on the playground, and when they punch you in the face, you can't really complain."

<>

Fuck 'em.

Tom

4. Indeed
They must reap what they have sown and we are the grim reapers who will extract from them a pint of the most delicious revenge. And ordinarily I am not a revengeful person. But it is something which must be done.

15. Oh my god!!
Those Republicans sound like such pussies.

"...Bookworm and her crew of bloggers aren't the only Republicans in Marin living a double life.

"A lot of people do," Kelly said.

Some fear going public could damage their careers or businesses, she said. Take many of the merchants on Fourth Street in San Rafael, for instance.

"There are a ton of them who are Republicans, and they don't want it out there," Kelly said.

Another Marin Republican who insisted on anonymity said she knew what would happen if her identity as a Republican became common knowledge: "I'd have no friends."

Puh-lease.

I've been a liberal Democrat in deep red Texas for 8 years. I don't keep it a secret from anyone. Maybe that's because I know I'm right and I'm prepared to debate and defend my political beliefs. Are these idiots too scared and lazy, or are they just closet bigots?

16. Interesting story. Republicans as the oppressed minority. "We" look down . . .
on "them" because they didn't go to "big" colleges. Nice meme.

And good for you. Gotta reserve the right to refuse business to anyone, right?

17. You know, Tom, I've always dug your posts and thought you were kind of a kindred spirit...
... but this whole thing here just sucks. It's just silly, in my opinion.

You wouldn't sell her something because she disagreed with you politically? That's just fucking stupid. I'm sorry, but why the hell do we need to bolster this kind of idiotic thinking?

Maybe I am just so tired of the divisive rhetoric going on these days, but geez, can't we get beyond this petty shit and talk to each other? Rather than saying, "I shun you! You can not do business with me, because you are an idiot for voting the way you do!", wouldn't it be better to engage them in a discussion about these things and see if you can maybe convince her to think otherwise?

20. Let me explain...
Most of what we sell is one of a kind.

Too cool for assholes.

There is no political discourse, any more.

They just shove and shout.

I am fucking tired of it.

A lot of us are.

There is no avenue of discussion.

And I refuse to sell stuff to jerkoffs, regardless of political affiliation.

Our stuff is too cool for them.

It's just that easy.

Tom

23. Ok, I get your point.
I do understand why you did what you did.
I just over-reacted last night when I lambasted you. Sorry about that.
I also sell my own artwork and I can certainly see doing the same thing if someone is being an asshole.

24. Left my comment...
"The Republicans have not only created the divisive atmosphere, they have nurtured it throughout the last 8 years. Now, when they are confronted with the anger it has spawned, we get a tale of how "unfair" the Democrats are.

As a reporter, you might consider taking a more neutral approach in presenting the story. The bias written into this article is off-putting. That is a shame. I hope your editor pays closer attention next time."

Hope business doubles for you with the publicity!
