SNL plans 'savage' Olbermann skit
Ben Affleck, who’s hosting “Saturday Night Live” this week, was rehearsing a skit this afternoon mocking Keith Olbermann when Olbermann himself got past security to watch, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

A source described the skit as “savage,” in portraying Olbermann as a deranged person living at home with his mother. Affleck, said a source, became uneasy with Olbermann in attendance at the 3 p.m., closed-set rehearsal.

But Olbermann, through a spokesman, was complimentary on his first time being mocked on "SNL" — a position his MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews has been in over the years.

“I’m not Sarah Palin,” Olbermann said. “I know how valuable it is to me. And it’s funny."

John McCain is expected to be on tomorrow night, but there’s no word if he’s involved at all in this skit.

An SNL representative declined to comment.

6. Why is
Why is SNL having McCain on and not Obama?

Sounds like SNL is being pressured. Oh, and why would Ben Afleck agree to this? It would be great of Keith shows up for the skit. McCain has made it clear he HATES Olberman.

10. Well since you asked...
"According to Mahalo, Katy Tur, the daughter of Robert Tur, an Emmy Award-winning journalist, is nearly 25 years Keith Olbermann's junior. Allegedly with the MSNBC Countdown host's help, Katy Tur has secured a job at a news-anchor job on New York station CW11, Pagesix.com reported:

IF you can stomach dating MSNBC blowhard Keith Olbermann , the role does have its perks. We hear Olbermann's live-in girlfriend, Katy Tur, 24, just landed a news-anchor job on CW11, allegedly with his help. Many are whispering about her qualifications, considering she once professed she didn't go to journalism school and she's simply been referred to as a "freelance cable producer" in New York and LA.

An updated post Meet Keith Olbermann's Girlfriend, New York's Newest TV Reporter on HuffingtonPost.com said Katy Tur is not joining the CW as an anchor but has accepted a position as a freelance reporter. "She got the job on her own merit." CW11 spokesperson Jessica Bellucci was quoted as reporting.

Katy Tur is a 2005 Graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara."

I say...GO KEITH!

8. Oh shit! Comedians are making fun of people... including liberals! Hide!
Keith's style is over the top sometimes. He's downright campy. I'm sure his rep can take the hit. Despite the bells and whistles on Countdown, he really does cover a lot of substantive issues in depth.

Please, no one freak out about this harmless ribbing from SNL.

9. To be fair, I think Olbermann's show needs a little more humor...
I love the special commentary lighting, it's spooky!

14. Keith's a good sport
and this campaign has made his name as a journalistic heavyweight. It's good to be Keith these days, especially after a look at Katy. ;)

16. Yup, he is. Any publicity he gets from SNL will be good for him.
The crazier the skit the better it'll be for Keith.

and I have my own personal theories about why she shacked up with Keith, but then that's just me.

18. I've noticed a clear pattern of (probably Lorne Michaels) inserting forced "balance" into the season
Notice every single episode features some utterly random and nonsensical Bill Ayers reference ?

While Tina Fey has been doing a funny Sarah Palin impersonation, I don't think SNL has had anybody doing a proper job of political satire on that show since Will Ferrell left.

19. Keith can handle it...he looked like he got a kick out of the idea on Countdown
But I think that SNL should also consider a Morning Joe skit in the future...beady eye Joe, drunk Mika falling out of her chair, Racist Buchanan...

20. You could tell Keith was annoyed during the primaries
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 07:46 PM by Awsi Dooger
SNL savaged MSNBC for its pro-Obama slant, but Keith apparently wasn't deemed important enough to parody. He was off-the-charts defensive to the SNL skits but I was always convinced it was because they didn't feature him.

22. To be funny, satire has to contain a grain of truth. Despite what Olbermann said,
I can't believe this will be funny.
