Glad to see Missouri and Virginia have Democrats running the election
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 02:28 PM by Alhena
with most of Missouri and Virginia's African-American voters concentrated in large cities, there would be a huge potential for vote suppression if Republicans were running the elections. You need an excuse to early vote in both states, so we haven't been able to bank a lot of votes like we've done in other states. So it's therefore good that Democrats are running the show.

Missouri Secretary of State:

Virginia doesn't appear to have a Secretary of State, instead rely upon a non-partisan Board of Elections. But presumably Governor Kaine has a lot of pull with them and will make sure Obama gets a fair shake.

2. Good deal- I think early voting removes worries about big poll lines there

4. Yes, and Pennsylvania as well. Colorado has a Repuke, but we slapped a lawsuit on him
and he seems to be acting a little more meek now- reaching a pretty favorable settlement of the lawsuit.

5. Robin Carnahan is a gem, daughter of the late Mel Carnahan
She's intelligent and has the backbone of her father. Good thing too, she's had to stand up to the boy governor Mel Blunt, who's done so bad in office that even he realized he wouldn't win a reelection and announced that he had "done all he wanted to do in office" last year and is now, hopefully, fading into obscurity.

She pretty much squelched Bluntboy's claims about ACORN in the state, and has kept the elections safe. One of the big reasons that this state will go blue Tuesday is her.

6. I concur! Mel was a gem, and so is she.
My daughter and son-in-law crossed paths a few times with Robin and her brother, Randy(who lost his life with Mel in that plane crash), while attending University of MO Rolla. They flew out of the Vichy airport quite often, and my then-to-be future SIL did some flight instruction there while he went to the University. My daughter was AFROTC while at Rolla, and flew small planes also as a private pilot while there. That was back in the early 1990's.
