Things to Bring With You As You Volunteer on Election Day

Here's things to bring with you as you volunteer on election day:

- a fully charged cell phone, with the two hotline photo numbers in memory:

1877-US4-OBAMA for the Obama campaign and
1866-OUR-VOTE for the non-partisan election protection network.

- a folding chair in your car, in case you find someone waiting in line who has trouble standing

- bottled water to pass out to people if there is a long line (it is supposed to be warm in the northeast on Tuesday)

- a digital camera to document any problems and to intimidate anyone who tries to intimidate others

- an extra large tshirt or jacket. In some states, voters are not allowed to wear political shirts in the polling place. Considering the huge number of Obama shirts, that could be a problem. I suggest bringing an extra large shirt that a voter can wear to cover up their shirt if needed, while they vote.
