ABC News: "U.S. Expects Bin Laden Tape Near Election"
Story from ABC News saying that some "senior officials" are "expecting" a Bin Laden tape:

http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=6148984&page=1

It would be hard to believe that this would come out tomorrow, just like 2004. In the article it says there is no actual or hard evidence that a Bin Laden tape is forthcoming, but that "senior officials" predict a tape.

Tuesday can't come fast enought for me.

44. Yes, and what bothers me is that Palin has been hammering "national security" the past two days
On the serious side. I don't see how an OBL tape wipes away Obama's substantial leads in most battleground states.

4. Interesting article
It opens by saying the CIA expects it, and then goes on to make quite a case for why it may not happen.

At any rate, I don't think a tape gets it done this time. They would need something more.

6. Why won't this just show what failures Republicans are at fighting teror, considering Mccain has
supported the policies that have allowed bin Laden to survive for so long, and Al Qaeda to thrive.

32. For somebody who has vowed to chase him to the gates of hell
He sure seems nonchalant about him and Bush (on video) back in 2002 essentially stated that he wasn't really that concerned about him as he was skillfully preparing to pivot to Saddam Hussein.

16. It's funny how M$M neglects to point their fingers to the ones responsible
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 10:20 PM by nc4bo
for a free roaming OBL. They're the very ones who watched and filmed the spectacular first wave of bombings and the fall of SH's statue in a city that had nothing to do with 9/11.

They lost all credibility for me when they carried the water for Bush & Co. going into Iraq and making war with people who had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 leaving Afghanistan after dumping a few bunker buster bombs on top of some caves.

Now M$M wants to start pushing articles and stories about whether a tape w/OBL's fingerprints on it will show up (or not) without calling out the absurdity of it all. They quote unnamed or anonymous sources and unnamed and untitled government officials to try and give this story some kind of credibility and put a small aroma of fear in the air.

My name is nc4bo, The Senior Government Official.

Epic Fail. This story should go straight into the nixie bin.

yet they expect a tape to come out? Although, this could work against McCain.....people may think "We need a Democrat in there to do what a Republican administration failed to do the last 7 years....and that's catch Osama"

31. You're not dreaming. I responded to that post
Here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x7670242

Although it was kind of weird because A.)Bin Laden was NOT in it. I think it was some unnamed member of Al-Queda. B.)The AQ representative talked about "humiliating BUSH/Republicans" (even though Bush isn't even running this year). C.)There was a story earlier this month about AQ endorsing MCCAIN on its website but I don't really think it got a lot of coverage (although I could be wrong since I don't tune into the corporate media much).

:wtf:

so it didn't even seem relevant to this year's election.

36. Maybe "recycled" from 2004?
Seems kind of strange to me. The only other explanation I was able to come up with is that since Obama has so successfully conflated McCain with Bush that even AQ now thinks they're the same.

I really don't even understand why we should care so much about their so-called "endorsements" or "pronouncements". I actually think it's rather counterproductive if not simply inappropriate to help publicize them (we are fighting a war against them still, right?) and give them free airtime and print here. It's even worse IMHO when the corporate media (or anybody for that matter) publicly suggests that they are influencing our elections.

25. ABC News: ABC News is having a slow news day, therefore ABC News is
making up shit.

Sure, it's entirely possible that Bin Laden will pop up again ... but for ABC News to report this, where there is NO CREDIBLE EVIDENCE that he is preparing a tape? Yeah, they suck.
