Come on young people in Florida - Get your ass out & vote!!
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/politics/orl-earlyvote3008oct30,0,5283353.story

"Less than a week from a potentially landmark presidential election, black voters in Florida are turning out in huge numbers to vote early, according to an Orlando Sentinel analysis.

So are people 55 and older. And Democrats.

But voters younger than 35 -- especially the college-age group that has drawn so much attention from Democrat Barack Obama's campaign -- are doing what they have largely done in elections past: staying home".

1. Most will probably wait until election day to vote.

2. Count 1 for my 21-year-old brother in Miami
Who waited in line for 3 and a half hours to vote on Tuesday. But I don't know how many other college students would do that...I don't think my brother would have if my mom hadn't insisted on it.

3. They are in college and at the beach. Give them a break, they will come in droves on election day.
Remember Wisconsin, it look like Hillary was on her way and after 5 pm the young came out in droves for Obama after classes had ended.

4. The youth vote has been the one large unknown in the Obama campaign
will they turn out? They haven't in the past. Why would they now? Many other candidates, starting with Eugene McCarthy have tried to leverage the youth vote. But youth doesn't imply a higher propensity to vote. It only implies a higher propensity to go drink beer.

7. If they don't come out this time...
...no politician will ever again give the youth vote a second thought.

And that's a terrible shame, because I remember when young folks of an earlier generation worked their butts off to get the voting age lowered to 18.

9. Yup, just in time for me when I turned 18
Many of us voted then. I think it was because of Vietnam.

Later, no one gave a damn.

5. When do young people do ANYTHING early?
Seriously. I have several college kids in my family. They get plenty of stuff done, but they don't usually do it until they absolutely have to, LOL!

For many of them, it could be their first time voting and they may not realize that they can vote early.
