McCain visiting Maine?
According to the Bangor Daily News, John McCain will be visiting Maine.
Looking for that extra electoral vote? He thinks one extra will help? Sounds like desperation to me...

1. When in danger, when in doubt,
Run in circles, scream and shout.

It's the headless chicken campaign now.

19. I wish they would stop giving statewide results and do it by district, since that
is what actually matters. :(

4. That's what I heard this morning
Obviously in the second district. But I can't imagine it's going to help at all.

It's a good thing; keep him out of the states that are closer.

11. That's one electoral vote, isn't it? Or 2 at the most?
McCain might be running the worst campaign ever

5. Is Maine one of the two states that splits it's electoral votes?
That's probably the reason.

7. She's still his campaign co-chair
She's been asked to step down from that position by the Maine Democratic Party but, so far, she's sticking with him.

10. McCain's chances are probably much better in Maine's 2nd CD than they are in PA
But visiting for one EV in the last five days of the campaign reeks of desperation.

20. Why Not--the DNC has done Fuck up here
They have done goddamn nothing for Tom Allen (our US Rep--one of the two we have) who is challenging Collins. They have done even less for "what's her name" that's trying to fill Tom's seat and is apparently running neck-in-neck in what should be an easy Dem victory--could be one less US rep. The DNC deserves to lose the whole goddamn state as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't it be a hoot if it came down to us and the DNC's neglect blew up in their faces. I'm an Allen supporter and totally disgusted with this party.

21. Your premise is bullshit
The DNC has done more here than in many states. You have no idea what you're talking about.

22. McCain Bails on His Commitment to Maine
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 08:11 AM by MaineDem

(PORTLAND, MAINE) - Twenty-four hours after Maine Republican Party Chairman Mark Ellis said "John McCain will be in Maine before Election Day," the McCain campaign issued a statement cancelling the trip.

"For a campaign that claims Maine is 'key to the McCain campaign's strategy,' this is simply more evidence of the erratic nature of John McCain's campaign," said Rebecca Pollard, communications director for the Maine Democratic Party. "Barack Obama understood from the very beginning how important Maine is to choosing the next president. That's why he built a strong grassroots campaign in every corner of the state, and inspired many Mainers to get involved in an election for the first time."
