Remember in 2000, when "vote-swapping" was in vogue?

People in "safe" states were trading a Nader vote for a Gore vote in "swing states"?

That's how lackluster the support for Al Gore was among the left.

Everyone parroted the mantra that Gore and Bush were "tweedledum and tweedledee" and that there was no difference between the two.

Pro-Nader leftists thought they were "clever" for coming up with the vote-swapping scheme.

The last 8 years really has changed things, eh? The left AND the moderate wings of the Democratic Party are in full sync this time. Everyone's on the same page.

Normally, the Democratic party is like herding cats. But we're all working together this time.... and it is the GOP that is undisciplined and fighting amongst themselves.

We've really grown up a lot in the past 8 years.

2. I question how much is being "learned."
Times are bad, and this is a throw-the-bums-out election year. If people learned anything, most of the last 8 years would never have happened. Because it's all happened before, as recently as 1987.

No, that's how slimy and sneaky the Repukes were among the right. Vote swapping, my ass.

4. I remember lots on the left voting for Nader because the "two parties were the same"

Lots of people on sites that pre-dated DU thought of Gore as a DLC "centrist".

The image of Gore now is NOT the same as it was in 2000.

5. I was with the Gore campaign in 2000
Bottom line is, the whole vote-swapping thing was a Rovian scheme.
