Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 12:28 PM by HughMoran
Imagine what the national polls would look like without the South?

1. Reminder: there are Southern states swinging toward Obama.

Even Georgia is in play. Yes, AL MS LA and TN will stay Red, but please, let's not blame things on the South. There are a lot of Dems working hard there for Obama.

3. It wasn't intended in any way as a swipe at the South
Wow, relax there!

I was simply pointing out that the national polls do not account for the huge advantage that Obama really has in swing states.

4. Sorry for misreading your post.
I just know how very simple statements like yours have started shitstorms on DU. I didn't think you intended any harm. :-)

2. Here's another (perhaps elitist!) way of putting it
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 12:32 PM by Bonn1997

That might require slight modification now but you get the point

5. Jesus was fine. Some who call themselves Christians are another story.

6. I didn't make that map but here is my interpretation of it
It's nothing against Jesus per se but "JesusLand" implies that Christianity *RULES* or dominates life in those regions, rather than merely perhaps being a component of one's life. I think it also implies outsiders--for example, Muslims, atheists--are not welcome or at least are not treated with the same respect. After all, this is "JesusLand," not "Freedom of Religion Land." That's how I interpreted that map when I saw it.
