Someone hold me.
The guy down the hall tried to convince me that Sarah Palin is "a breath of fresh air" and that she "doesn't talk like a politician". Also Obama "is a socialist". And on and on and on. After I painstakingly deconstructed his pitiful arguments piece by piece, he finally said "I don't vote anyway, they're all crooks. I'll let you off the hook since you're having trouble defending your boy." "Your boy." Amazing.

I don't mind stupidity, but I do have a problem with willful ignorance. I just wasted bucketfuls of truth on a guy who doesn't vote. Fortunately the guy across the hall who I have converted to Obama was witness to the whole thing and he told me everytime I get into a discussion with these people around here, he picks up another Pro-bama talking point. But what price truth? I feel like I am adrift in a sea of madness. :scared:

Someone hold me.

1. I'll hold you
and hug you. It's going to be fine. We're winning and we'll win. People like that are brainwashed by hate radio. There's not much you can do about them. Everything will be fine, just wait a week.

2. I feel your pain.
Something similar happened to me at a park day gathering on Monday. I repressed the urge to bitch slap the woman for wasting my time. Willful stupidity indeed!

5. she "doesn't talk like a politician" - Ha!

She doesn't talk like a politician, because she doesn't talk like an adult. Which is of course because she doesn't have the brain capacity of a normal adult.

Don't waste your time trying to convince a hardcore. Move on to an undecided.

And next time Poster Guy for Willful Ignorance starts this crap with you, you've just gotta tell him, "You told me you don't vote, so you're just runnin' your mouth and I'm not gonna be your audience."

19. Me, too. I'm in Texas
I wasn't given enough tolerance at birth to be able to stand some of the absolute idiots that seem to gravitate to me these days. They can't understand simple facts and figures!!! They vote against their own interests because they cannot and will not think for themselves.

Thank goodness, it's just one more week. I'm trying to hang on, but they seem to be coming out of the woodwork!!! LOL

15. Don't bother with people like that.
Many such as this person just like to see someone dance around like an organ-gringer's monkey, putting on a show as to plead the case for their candidate. If someone is that blind at this stage in the game to either not vote or to vote for McCain/Palin they deserve none of your time.

I live in a very red county in a very blue state. At breakfast I overheard people going over rwing talking points against obama; the muslim thing, associating with terrorists, feeling safe with McCain. None of these people were 1%er's either. Quite the opposite in fact.

16. What do you expect from the rabid Reagan ass kisser's?
Even after all these years of republicon/Reagan economic failure's they are still waiting for that golden trickle from above that will luanch them upwards never once thinking, hey your pissing on my head, that isn't the golden trickle Reagan promised me. But then my grandfather also knew people that were waiting for their just rewards in 1949 promised by Hoover.

These are the same people layed off in the 1980's that voted for Reagan a second time while collecting welfare checks. They never learn and are incapable of thinking things through, somehow someway they feel they earned their place in the world and there are no others like them, yet everyone they know is a carbon copy of themselves. To a liberal leaning mind it's unbelieveable that they can be that dense, book learning doesn't do much good if all you ever learn can't be applied to real life situations, so education is wasted on them.

17. You're in Tennessee, I see.
I don't have any advice; I'm in Portland and I rarely encounter this stuff. I put myself in a liberal bubble because I have no, zero, zilch patience for dumbasses like your co-worker. I would probably wind up screaming in someone's face every day if I were in your situation.

Hang in there.

21. When a person can't tell the difference between "a breath of fresh air" and "sewer gas" ...
... then they've been spending too much time with Joe the Plumber.

24. Good one.
On a slightly related note:

I was asked on an interview once what I knew about plumbing. I said "If it ain't green, it ain't a pickle."

Astoundingly, I got the job. (Plumbing design and supplies was only a small part of it)

23. this stuff makes me scared :(
All the stories I've read here the last few days of encounters with idiot pigs :scared:

And right now I'm about to go spend the afternoon working with these women who have made it clear the last few years how proudly Republican they are. I get nervous and start rushing my words if I try to discuss anything important with their kind, so I'm gonna be quiet and just do my thing because they are beyond hope.
We'll all have to share the same table and pretend to have cordial conversation. I know a couple of them are gonna say some inappropriate shit to make my face turn red
