So would this 5+ year 30,000+ post DUer be called a concern troll???
If I am a little concerned that Rasmussen has closed to 3 points for the 1st time in over a month???

Yes I know its about the electoral map and McCain has to win PA, NC, VA, FL, OH, MO, IN but still after these 8 years of dissappointments can you blame me???

3. Hey, they stole the last 2 presidential campaigns so I share your concern...HOWEVER...
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 10:08 AM by helderheid
I am staying positive and doing what I can to share information to help avoid another stolen election, as well as visualizing success. If O/B win, it will be up to each and everyone of us to make sure our elections are fair and transparent.

ETA: Out of curiosity, I checked my post count: 35994 :wow: I need to get out more.

4. Whoever came up with that term.......
....must not have spent a lot of time here. After the past 8 yrs, a person would be a fool not to be concerned! That's not to say we can't be confident, but concerned. I personally feel this one is in the bag, but my concern is all about what has happened in the last two elections. Let's all be concerned, then party like a mofo next Wednesday!

I don't blame you for being scared of your own shadow.... seems that most DUers are lately. But McCain's not gaining in any of the battleground states.

And our GOTV operation is 10 times better than the GOP's this go around.

Nice job for posting this

I'm very new to DU, and If I post something like "I'm not sure I like that"

or "What if they steal it"

responses I get:

"Loser"
"You're a big fucking ray of sunshine, aren't you?"
"Go dig yourself a hole in the ground, lay in it, and put the dirt over yourself"

Yeah, whatever. We have every right to be scared about the polls getting close.

We can't let the republicans steal the election this time. I just fear that if it's close, they might get away with it. It's sickening.

I'm almost used to the pressure and the occasional bad poll. We're gonna win this one - once the McCainiacs realize their efforts will still not put him over the top, they will collapse internally and Obama will win in a blowout.

If anything, the tightening motivates the Obama people even more and we know he's a strong finisher.

That concerns me, too. I would like to see Obama keep enough of a lead in all the polls that it would be impossible to explain a last minute surge and win for McCain.

19. 35,000 posts *should* get you immunity
from even the most rabid, reflexive, unimaginative, "Thank you for Your Concern"-posting, immature pea-brains. But there is never any guarantee with those people.

I would look on the bright side. We *want* people to act, and vote, as if Obama had only a 3 point lead. We don't want people relaxing and staying home because they are convinced he has this election in the bag.

one would think that after 8 years of Bush/McCain/Republican hell Obama would have a bigger lead heading into the last 6 days before the election....if it was just Rassmussen I would be okay with it but Obama fell alot in the Gallup poll yesterday...something is going on out there and I hope the bleeding stops...I could not deal with a President McCain...It makes me sick thinking about it.

28. Right...
and every time someone posts a poll that's not good for Obama and you show any concern at all you get bashed here...as if it is our fault that Obama had a polling day...WTF is that all about? Should we be happy that Obama lost 3 points in Gallup yesterday and a few points in Rassmussen today and be all happy pappy about it and not be concerned after what has happened in this country the past 8 YEARS and 2 stolen elections.

This same thing happned in 2004...so many DUers saying we are crazy for being concerned about Kerry losing...that we were trolls or something...and then looked what happened.

Hehe, I couldn't resist. :-)

Anyways, I wouldn't worry too much. That's a national poll.

Consider the following states where Obama is currently polling ahead of McCain:

Ohio
Florida
Missouri
Nevada
Virginia
North Carolina
New Mexico
Wisconsin
Pennsylvania

Now consider that if he wins a combination of any 2 of those states and he wins. Or Pennsylvania +1.

33. The problem is not the concern, but the fact that some people are just waiting for a bad poll
so that they can start threads about how we are going to lose and how they will steal it. And that all those positive polls out there are being ignored.
Everyone has the right to be concerned and I understand the reasons to be worried, but why do people have to start 10 topics about it every day?
Do you think it really helps, if everybody here is pessimitic? Do you really think all those new voters, who registered to vote for Obama will stay home, if we are ahead in the polls? Do you really think the people on DU will not vote if we are ahead in the polls? Some people think every optimism is bad. Is it impossible to be optimistic and still vote and work for it?

I'm not talking about you, but about all those people, who think that you have to be negative to win...

36. No, I cannot blame you, and you make a very good point.
I'm tired of "troll" accusations around here. Given my last two Presidential election nights, trying to comfort loved ones while barely keeping myself together, I regret that I can't join in this victory party until victory is declared.

I've posted overwhelmingly positive posts, because the news has been overwhelmingly in our favor. But criticize someone for being apprehensive, given recent history? NO WAY!

Because it would mean you haven't been paying attention to how Ras compared to other pollsters in the past few weeks and noticed that Ras typically lists Obama's lead as far less than almost anyone else.

Panicking over one poll is dumb. When several polls say the same thing, then it is time to worry.
