According to Drudge, Rasmussen is down to O+3 today.
So we have very good state polls (though most were taken 10/22-10/26), and so-so tracking polls. Hopefully the "tightening" is just statistical noise.

26. this happened here in 2004...
someone posts a poll that is bad and you report that there is tightening when that is what the poll has been showing and then some people here blame the OP for the polls getting closer...like we did something to cause this...WTF?

but I'd rather have the state polls at this point. The path to 270 is the most important element. Remember Gore in 2000.

shown McCain up for at least a month, despite every effort.

31. Why would ANY Democrat visit Drudge's web site?
He might be right about the polls, he might be wrong. But why give that asshole the hit count? I'd rather use a reliable nonpartisan source like RealClearPolitics.

32. Actually, if you really want to be technical about being nonpartisan, you should use Pollster.com
I personally go to 538.com because I like their blog and the way that Nate Silver is rather strenuous about explaining his thinking behind his simulations but RCP selects and thus cherry picks polls just like 538 so they are definitely biased with a margin of error with their results. Pollster simply aggregates without discrimination so technically, it's the most nonpartisan and unbiased of the poll aggregators.

I don't use Drudge because it's kinda obvious that with the SINGLE polls that he touts to try to push a specific storyline, there's no way of knowing whether or not that poll is an outlier or if he's interpreting it correctly or presenting the correct context for it. So that's what makes me skeptical.

Regarding Drudge: I don't think he ever presents the correct context for anything, which is why I don't think he's worth a bucket of warm spit.

DU needs to stop obsessing so much with the ups/downs of national polls esp since most of them are likely voter methods that are simply unable to accurately predict turn-out.

about the national polls...6 days out all that really matters are the crucial state polls...Obama can even be behind in the the national polls but if he holds his lead in PA and VA it is over...Obama wins....I do think that McCain's recent attacks on Obama have helped McCain...the attacks have laregly been unanswered by Obama and his team in a clear way....

41. Obama: 51% to 44% using Gallup's expanded model.
"Obama is now at 49% of the vote to 47% for McCain among likely voters using Gallup's traditional model, and at 51% to 44% using Gallup's expanded model."
