On election night, according to David Gregory
appearing on Jay Leno

Yes, they are not supposed to call it until the polls close at 8:00 pm in the West Coast, however, he said, if McCain loses Florida, and North Carolina and Virginia and Pennsylvania, this would be it.

1. I can hear it now on FauxNews: "We can't call it yet.
States in the west and Hawaii and Alaska are still voting. If McCain can sweep California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Alaska, he's still in this thing. Let's hold off until polls close on the west coast."

4. They will be more sinister than that
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 12:29 AM by GrizzlyMan
I predict they will be the last to declare Obama the winner if he wins and they will be floating "reports" of Repukes filing challenges to the results in key swing states all night long.

10. I expect challenges on both sides
But I'm going to guess Fox won't be talking about those on the Dem side.

6. Well, if people in California and Oregon and Washington
are planning to vote after work, and the elections are called at 6:00 pm their time, Democrats may choose to go straight home while Republicans may want to prove the "East Coast Liberals" wrong and things could change.

After all, McCain losing these states and losing the race is based on Obama winning the West Coast and Hawaii.

9. wrong. too many people in Oregon will have turned in mail in ballots
and same goes for many parts of Washington that has mail in balloting.

Are you seriously thinking the GOP folks in California won't go ahead and check out and go home in similar numbers as their Dem brethren? If anything, the reverse would be true. GOP voters would know the game is over and not vote. Dems would want to be a part of this historic victory and ensure their place by getting down to the polling station to vote.

it's a WAAVVVEEEE election. If you have an R behind your name....WATCH OUT!!

15. Exactly - My RW SIL asked me when I was voting
I am in CA and my response was, sometime between six and eight, I will be waiting for the call and then going down to make my vote for Obama. Damn I hope it is at about 6:30.

7. As long as Democrats in the West Coast still go to vote

14. It could be over when Indiana closes.
If Indiana - a state Bush won by 21% 4 years ago - is too close to call on Election Night, consider this election in the bag.

18. That's what I say.
They'll have to wait until Lake County comes in as it's the last of the polling places to close just like in the primaries.

They need to defeat Prop 8. The polls are tightening up and with 6 days left...
