"My job is to ask tough, probing questions of the candidates"

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/28/west.biden.king.qanda/index.html

(CNN) -- A Florida TV anchor became an Internet sensation this week when she pressed Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden about whether Sen. Barack Obama's policies were Marxist.

Critics said WFTV-TV anchor Barbara West of Orlando had an agenda and was asking biased questions. Biden responded, "Is this a joke?"

CNN's Larry King on Monday talked with West about the interview on "Larry King Live."

Larry King: Your recent grilling of Joe Biden has stirred up a lot of controversy. Let's take a look at part of it, and we'll get your comments. Watch.

(Video clip begins)

Barbara West: You may recognize this famous quote. "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs." That's from Karl Marx. How is Sen. Obama not being a Marxist if he's intending to spread the wealth around?

Sen. Joe Biden: Are you joking? Is this a joke?

West: No.

Biden: Or is that a real question?

West: That's a question.

Biden: He is not spreading the wealth around. He's talking about giving the middle class an opportunity to get back the tax breaks they used to have.

I know this has been a pretty mean campaign. I was on a television station the other day and doing a satellite feed to a major network in Florida. And the anchor quotes Karl Marx and says in a sense, "Isn't Barack Obama Karl Marx?" You know I mean folks, this stuff you're hearing, this stuff you're hearing in this campaign, some of it's pretty ugly.

8. Actually I don't think even Fox
would be that blatantly biased and disrespectful, unless Biden agreed to be interviewed by Hannity himself!

10. She's too old to be a newscaster at FAUX.
Of course, if she's willing to get an extreme facelift a la Gretta VanSustran.......

2. ....reports that you are registered as a Republican; your husband is a Republican strategist
Hey lady, answer the damn question.

By the crafty way you tried to dodge a direct answer, I think we know the answer.

3. Did they ask about her interview with McCain
the contrast could not be any more startling. She is an idiot, and GOP hack.

5. Those were NOT "tough, probing" questions.
They were "You haven't stopped beating your wife yet, have you?" questions, designed expressly to get the kind of response she wanted, and nothing else. Biden deflected them like a pro, but couldn't help but let his contempt show through a bit. She deserved it.

6. Yeah, I asked my mom (a former journalist) if that was a leading question
and she said it sure sounded like it. My dad was incredulous that this woman calls herself a journalist, but I pointed out that Bill O'Reilly considers himself a journalist too, so...

12. exactly what voter fraud registration business is she referring to?
the only person arrested for voter fraud was a GOP operative who was operating out of CA and two other states -- I believe one of them was Florida. IF she was asking tough questions, why not stick with the facts, jack?

there has been no one arrested within ACORN for voter registration fraud. In fact, fraud was perpetrated AGAINST Acorn. she may find herself a litigant named in a lawsuit along with the DoJ for illegally spreading voter registration fraud stories for political purposes. Couldn't happen to a more worthy person ( I doubt this would happen, but as Obama has called on the DoJ to investigate the RNC, McCain campaign and Bush administration for this, and spreading it on the news is furthering it, and her husband did work for them....It's not out of the realm of possibility for her to be called to testify). Kreep.
