Right Wing Columnist Says If You Vote For Obama, You Are Disobeying God And Will Go To Hell
Ladies and Gentlemen,

This is the type of craziness we face. This is why it will be struggle to win, because we must confront this type of fanaticism, which is fostered and encouraged by the McCain campaign through the MSM.

To all those who name the name of Christ who plan to willfully disobey Him by voting for Obama, take warning. Not only is our nation in grave danger, according to the Word of God, so are you ... his election is not about race. It's not about the economy. It's about obeying God.

...

Be forewarned: If you willfully disobey God on life and marriage because of race or false hope for the economy, you will usher in the kind of change that brought the Soviet Union to collapse.

But the warning goes far beyond that. To those who think that God's grace gives them license to willfully disobey Him without consequences – think again:

Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" (Matthew 7:21-23)

That deals with your eternity.

3. One More Thing - Right Wing Evangelicals Always Ignore The Bible's Teachings On Poverty
One thing that amazes me is how ignorant the Christian right is of the Bible. The bible actually has verses that would be considered liberal, if not socialistic:

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered."

-Proverbs 21:13

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

-Proverbs 31:8-9

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

-Matthew 6:24

He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished."

-Proverbs 17:5

"He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich--both come to poverty."

-Proverbs 22:16

"Jesus answered, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'"

-Matthew 19:21

"He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses."

-Proverbs 28:27

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Luke 12:33,34

Indeed, liberation theology, which the Right Wing Christians consider leftist, is based on this quote from Jesus:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19)

Just as we talk about how Big Media has become a propaganda tool for corporations, it seems that religion in America has also been similarly hijacked. Afterall, how can the Evangelical right wing support a Republican party that has turned its back on the needs of most Americans?

14. Why Can't The MSM Ask Whether Jesus Was A Socialist?
"Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"

21. There is no God, there is no Hell...
...and anyone who claims to speak to/for God automatically forfeits any claim to sanity.

On Hell: What the fuck do they call the last 8 years? Like the old Vietnam veteran said, "I'm not afraid of Hell, I was at Khe Sahn."

Who do they think they are to speak for God? Only the delusional can believe that God takes their side. They need to stop pushing this nonsense on me!

It is an affront to God himself to try to squeeze him into this petty vindictive hole and use him to scare the feeble of mind.

35. Here's a phrase to use on people who push this crap -"The Error of Delegation"
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 08:37 PM by friendly_iconoclast
If you can get past the "oooh, fundies, how icky" reflex.

It works on Evangelicals because "error" has a specific meaning, as in:
"Yes, you are a good Christian, but this particular idea of yours is wrong"

So stay calm, and when you hear stuff like this, you just say "Oh, the error of delegation again!"
When they ask what it is, you just tell them: "Well, this Janet Porter falsely thinks God delegated powers of judgement to her".

Believe me, it does a great job of shaking up the honest ones- the phonies can't be reached anyway
