4. I'm glad he didn't pick Kay Bailey
She would have been a great asset. But was disqualified for being pro choice.

7. Romney would have been a SERIOUS problem ...
I thought that BEFORE the markets tanked.

Sorry, but had Romney been on the ticket with McCain when the markets tanked, McCain might actually be well ahead of BO at this point, because McCain could have made a VERY strong arguement, and you can bet every dime you own that media would have ran with it, that Romney was the economic savior.

EVERY day for the last month plus you would have seen Romney's face on the cover of newsweek, time, every newspaper declaring him the country's savior.

The McCain/Romney ticket would have been declared McCain - Mr unquestioned foreign affairs expert and Romney - Mr unquestioned economic guru.

Romney, the man who saved the olympics, is he the man to save our economy.

Serously, would William Buckley's kid, Hitchens, Powell, Brooks, Noonan ... Would they have jumped ship if Romney was VP - NOPE.

Whole different scene right now.

12. And, let me add about "the base" ...
The fundies have NEVER been about religion, it has ALWAYS been about politics.

EITHER WAY, Jesus himself could be on the ticket, and if he was D, they would vote for Joe the Crusafix Builder if he was the R.

The D is the anti-christ to the "base."

23. I don't think Romney is that strong economically
I know that's the image he used during the primary but I don't see why he's so great on the economy. Didn't he run a company that acquired other companies and then cut tons of jobs in order to make a profit? I'm not so sure that's the kind of economy policies people want.

8. Romney definitely would have helped him with a message on the economy.
Maybe we should start a "Thank you Palin" thread :)

that I felt a LOT better about our chances now that this woman is on the ticket.

9. Whether or not Romney really knows the economy...
He looks like he does, and that would be a lot more handy for the campaign right now.

You'd think in the spirit of party unity, Mitt and the boys would be on the trail with McPalin. They could be talking up McCain's plan to rescue the economy with at least some credibility.

Ya don't suppose he's sore about the VP pick, do you?
I've not seen the Mittster on the tube in months.

Hahahahaha

10. It would have been harder, but his campaign is really bad.
They have no real message. I don't know if a VP alone could change that.

21. No, he wouldn't have helped
McCain isn't losing because of Palin. He's losing because he wants to continue the same policies that Bush has used the last eight years.

22. I don't think so
The "base" would be slitting their wrists over "the lib" and "the Mormon" and would be far less motivated, though it would help McHoover with Independents the result would be the same. In fact the non-surprise VP may have left McGollum dead in the water and way behind because the media wouldn't have been climbing over themselves to cover Mitt and Obama's acceptance speech would have got the coverage it deserves and reduced to nothing the RNC bounce and tied McHoover even more closely to crapped out Republiscum brand.
