Please help me understand: Why does Palin consider "rogue" an insult but "maverick" a compliment?

Why is Palin so proud of the "maverick" lable when she bristles at being called a "rogue" -- isn't a rogue a very mavericky thing?

The maverick thing hasn't been working for the McCain/Palin ticket, except among the party faithful. For the general public, I think "maverick" has overtones of "cowboy" -- and we're tired of the cowboy who's been in the saddle the past 8 years.
