Flip-Flop vs. FLIM-FLAM; which do you prefer?
Changing positions on specific issues is only scary to stupid people who can't adapt. It's only inconsistent if the situation hasn't changed; Kerry's adapted to changing times with a clear moral through-line.

Admiration of manic simplicity is the hero worship of fools. Spineless Caspar Milquetoasts get all dewy-eyed over black-and-white thugs, but real men aren't afraid to think.

Essentially, George W. Bush only appeals to people who are deficient in personal strength. Cringing cowards and losers love the pushiness of gangsters; strong people see him as the boob he is. People who like roughing up the weak like him. To like this man is to admit wimpiness or latent sadism.

He's a Flim-Flamming, bait-and-switch hornswoggler, and he can't be trusted to the door.

Kerry's been very consistent; people who can't see the through line are lying or dumb.

Please use the flim-flam; it's a nice alliterative rejoinder, and it opens the discussion about the MANY lies of Ninnyboy and Deadeye Dick.

OK, I'll say the 'Ewwwwww' for all of you. ;)

4. thanks
Bush IS a flim-flammer, a scammer, a loser buffoon. I will use that line: "I'd rather have a flip-flopper, (actually someone who can change their mind based on new information rather than stubbornly sticking to an idea even after it has been proven wrong) than a flim-flammer, a patently dishonest con man."

5. Recycling their frame in any form
ultimately backfires. Kerry is saying "W = Wrong". This may not be perfect, but it is already beginning to stick. All that really matters is that we get a negative image of Monkey Boy imprinted onto the social psyche.

6. You make a great point.
However, Kerry isn't anywhere near the "flip-flopper" Dubya makes him out to be. The term actually belongs to Dubya, the uniter/divider/war/peace pResident.

When the debates begin, it will be clear who the true "flip-flopper" is.

And I love the term "flim-flammer" for Dubya. We don't even have to stretch the truth or lie about Dubya to find the correct term for him. Easy, easy target.

7. OK, I'll accept flim-flammer as accurate
I just don't expect most undecided or unregistered voters to behave logically. It's all about feeling, and the message that bush is a deceiver must be branded on their brains with an especially hot iron.

BTW... Posted this elsewhere and got no response:

The free word-smithing tutorial on the site is simply dynamite. It uses the latest from Lakoff.

14. This is an excellent site. I think a lot of DUers would be interested
in reading about the Republican converts' stories. This really isn't a partisan problem; the dissention isn't about the party to which Dubya belongs. He's simply the worst president that our country has ever had, & it's encouraging to learn about any fair-minded Republican voter who puts his country above his feelings for his party.

Welcome to DU. If you post something with a recommended link without getting a response, try posting it again later. Don't give up! I've been there several times. :)

15. Yes, flim-flam
Seems we were using this a few months ago. I think we may be the ones with ADD, we forget this good stuff way too quickly. Maybe that's why the corporations ignore us when we threaten boycotts, they know we'll go to something else and forget we were upset. Whose still boycotting Slim-Fast?
