Ever noticed there is nothing to MAKE FUN of Obama about??
I mean, even when I TRY to think of something, I can find nothing.

Maybe his ears, but that is it.

He is not an easy target for people to parody.

McLame and his smile and tounge and wandering is weird and easy.

Quaylin and her gotcha, russia, charlie, stupid act is easy also.

But Obama is not an easy target. Too perfect!

1. One of the comedians said the same thing. I can't remember who it was,
but one of them said "PLEASE Barack, give us something!"

because clearly VP Palin would be a comedy and talkshow goldmine.

5. It was Bill Maher on Friday night.
He was whining that if Obama wins it will be a very difficult time for political comedians.

Like, he cross trains really hard with olympic athletes so he can sign those bills...
I think a day in the life of would be really funny, because he sometimes seems so predictable, regimented, and fun-avoiding. As if he is in a 2 year long boot camp.
Which may be true.
In a phrase, he seems too prepared!

3. Obama's Q score is through the roof, plus he is cool. In terms of male
dominance, he's "cooler" than most people who would like to make fun of him. It's hard to make fun of the guy who's cooler than you.

10. He conducts himself with dignity and class and has very
positive body language when interacting with people, so it's hard to find something to parody. My guess is that comedians will find things to joke about in the next few years, but they will be good natured jokes because Obama will be a beloved President.

15. Messiah jokes
They'll joke about him healing the sick and raising the dead. They did something similar on SNL with Carter. They made fun of how smart and knowledgable he was. One had him discovering a nuclear accident because of the "Pepsi syndrome" where a guy spilled a Pepsi on a control panel. He shows up and figures it all out. Another had him explaining to a postal worker how to adjust the tension on a mail sorting machine. In the end it became his "weakness", i.e. a micromanaging president that couldn't see the larger picture. If Obama is successful, he'll be the "black George Washington". If he is seen as failing, he'll be the professor from the ivory tower.

11. I saw Jon Stewart doing a bit on his speech style
Jon was having Barack say everyday things in his speech-giving voice. I think that would be a place to start for a comedian (Blue light special announcements would never sound better). Or the ears as you mentioned. Or his demeanor. Show things exploding while he calmly takes it all in. I'm sure they can find any number of angles to exploit as they always seem to do.

14. Newsweek article: Why Obama needs a Tina Fey

What good is political satire if comedians shy away from the biggest target?
By Joshua Alston | NEWSWEEK
Published Oct 25, 2008
From the magazine issue dated Nov 3, 2008

If self-sacrifice is the mark of a true patriot, then Mike Barker is an American-flag pin incarnate. Barker is an executive producer of "American Dad," Fox's animated sitcom featuring Stan Smith, a xenophobic, far-far-right FBI agent—the type of Republican who believes we're winning in Iraq because the MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner said so. "Dad" derives much of its humor from Stan's slavish adherence to cultural conservatism and President Bush's cowboy diplomacy, so attendees at this year's Television Critics Association press gathering wondered aloud how a Barack Obama presidency might affect the show. Could it benefit more from a McCain upset? Barker put any questions of his allegiance to rest: "I think we have to put the needs of the country ahead of the show." McCain might be hogging the slogan, but sometimes even Hollywood liberals put country first.

Barker's sentiments are indicative of the precarious position in which political satire finds itself. On one hand, this election has made political humor the most relevant kind, and television has ridden the cresting wave. "Saturday Night Live," which has struggled against sagging buzz and ratings for years, found its biggest audience since 1994 when Sarah Palin appeared to face off against Tina Fey's impression of her. In late September, Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" hit a nightly average of 2 million viewers, a 28 percent jump from last year. The audience that watched David Letterman grill John McCain was the largest the "Late Show" had seen since 2005. But political satire is at a vital juncture, and what happens in the coming weeks, and how its practitioners react to it, will determine whether the genre continues its dominance.

18. It's not that he's perfect
it's that he's not an idiot or a buffoon. He's not mean or a hypocrite.

Comedians, have gotten used to "making fun" of the stupid things said and done by our leaders.
In truth, this haven't required a lot of thought or creativity. The leader IS the joke. Basically, you just point out their stupidness and we'll laugh at it. Hell, we've all become good comedians.

I would love not have to laugh AT my president so often.

Comedians have had it very easy for the past eight years and have grown lazy in perfecting their craft. That's why they are whining about Obama. They will have to learn to sharpen their wits if they want to make a funny, because Barack Obama is no joke.

whatever he scored. They failed to mention that 3 point shot he hoisted on camera when he scrimmaged with The UNC hoops team last spring.

27. There's plenty to make fun of. You just can't do black comedy on him.
I'd say it's something like Tiger Woods. Try as you may to apply black comedy to the guy, you can't. Why? It just doesn't work. Most of that is stereotypical anyways and can't apply to either. Once, and only once someone tried to pull some crappy joke on Tiger and we was basically run out of pro golf.

It's always harder to make fun of someone in opposition than someone in power, because they don't really do anything but campaign. Once he's President, I'm sure satirists will find something to work with.

31. Political cartoonists on NPR this morning were bemoaning this
fact. Mike Luckovich of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Mike Peters of The Dayton Daily News are both clearly Democratic leaning, but they were commenting that, purely as cartoonists, they were worried about Barack's presidency. They said that he is very hard to parody in cartoons since, aside from the ears, there's just nothing to use. No gaffes, no missteps, no fumbles; he just kind of glides along.

I don't think they were really unhappy about it. :-)
