That means that Obama goes on just before the World Series tomorrow!!!!!

Edited to add:

Game 5 will not resume on Tuesday

Poor weather continues in Philly; eyes turn toward Wednesday
By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com

PHILADELPHIA -- Game 5 of the 2008 World Series will not resume Tuesday due to inclement weather, Major League Baseball announced. Game 5 is now tentatively scheduled to resume on Wednesday evening at 8:37 p.m. ET, weather permitting.

In a statement, Commissioner Bud Selig said: "While obviously we want to finish Game Five as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening.

"We are closely monitoring tomorrow's forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to tomorrow's schedule."

1. Yup that is a PLUS...even more people will be tuning in as a perfect lead-in to the game
Sort of like pre-game shows...and at prime-time

8. Hey, who's to say that the Obama variety show wouldn't be the reason for higher ratings for the game
I mean, the ratings for the game has been lowered overall so it's possible that Obama's ad is not going to benefit more from being the lead in to the game but rather that the game broadcast will benefit from being Obama's follow up act.

But yeah, hopefully it's a symbiotic relationship in terms of ratings. That Obama's ad helps add to an existing audience for the game and that the audience for the game is also interested in watching the half hour before it. :)

3. If Philly had a domed field like we do in Phoenix that game would have been over last night.
:P Just sayin'....

7. Ugh - domed baseball stadiums are just so wrong to me
I don't have a problem with them in any other sport, but domes in baseball just really bother me. I guess its just my youth, when we played on fields in the middle of the day out in the bright sunshine, sometimes even when it was raining. Baseballs environment is in the outdoors.

Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary. :)

10. Heh, I have a completely opposite view.
Since baseball is pastoral and can be 'called off' for all kinds of inclement weather, I prefer domes which allow the game to progress through to its conclusion.

For football, however, domes are evil! Football is rarely, if ever, called off for inclement weather (short of a hurricane, tornado or earthquake, the game goes on). Some of the best games have been those games where it's almost blizzard like conditions, the football is frozen like a big block of iced leather and you can barely see the players. Seeing them play in heated domes makes me sad.

12. Yeah, I guess I grew up in the age where there were few domed baseball stadiums
Growing up in the 80's, there were only two - the Astrodome and the Metrodome. I remember watching games on TV and how fast the turf was, it was almost as if Ozzie Smith was playing out in left field! That coupled with my own baseball playing days, I've just always preferred it outdoors. Retractable domes are another story entirely. I like those!

But I see your point about football. I definitely prefer those dirty games where the uniforms are covered in mud or the field is blanketed in snow.

when it rains, there's a roof. when its not raining (note, i didn't say sunny!), open to the sky.

now, if there was something besides crap that played in it...

13. It's a tough time to be a Mariners fan, that's for sure
I feel sorry for you guys. You've got a great stadium and some of the best fans in the sport, but your ownership group is horrendous.

Outside of King Felix and Ichiro, I don't see much to cheer about up there for a while. But hopefully you guys can make some good moves in the draft and through trades and build up the way Tampa has done.

18. If the Dbacks had to play in the heat they'd be angry, that's for sure.
And no fans would show up to sit in the sun in 100+ degree weather.

The roof on Chase Field can be opened in the nice weather. It's beautiful.

This way they can get Cole Hamels to pitch a possible game 7.
