I've been thinking about this for awhile. The only person who's really made the Bush people sweat, who's actually drawn blood against Bush has been... Richard Clarke. Paul O'Neill came close, but he sort of buckled under the pressure the day after his 60 Minutes interview and claimed a kind of tepid support for Bush's reelection. Michael Moore has been a fly in Bush's ointment, but the average Joe/Jane Public doesn't take him too seriously.
Clarke made a bee-line for the jugular of Bush's campaign strategy: Bush claim to be the "anti-terrorism president". That was months ago, though, people have sort of forgotten.
That's where Rand Beers should step in. He needs to be front-and-center at Kerry rallies, and Kerry needs to remind voters that Bush's SECOND counter-terrorism expert resigned from the Bush administration in disgust, only to defect to the Kerry camp -- because Beers considered Kerry the right man to protect America from terrorists.
"Against All Enemies, Part II", by...Rand Beers...needs to be written and published SOON! Strike directly at the heart of Bush's reelection platform.
