Barack Obama has asked you to vote early - will you do this for him?
I know that some of you enjoy voting on election day. For some of you it is an event - others a tradition - something you do every four years. Well, if this election has been about nothing else, it has been about CHANGE. Will you change this one small thing about yourself and vote early, as Barack has asked?

Barack has said that in the next four years we may have to make sacrifices - can this be one small sacrifice you make?

If Barack can't convince you, then how about these thoughts:

- The campaign has lists of people who haven't voted yet. When your name is on that list, they will continue to call you.

- If the campaign is calling you, that means that volunteers aren't spending time calling others who may still be undecided - that is time, money and effort wasted.

- What if, god forbid, something happened to you or a loved one between now and election day, and you were unable to vote?

Thank you for your time.

56. early voting only by absentee ballot in WI
My fear is that the absentee ballots have a reputation for only getting counted if the election is close. If tons of Obama supporters vote absentee who's to say that it might not skew the results and give McCain a false lead such that they won't bother to count the absentee votes. As much as I don't look forward to waiting in line on election day I'm not positive my vote will be counted if I vote absentee.

24. Three hours in line today
(two hours before I even entered the building) but the deed is done.

People who had to pick up their children from school were having to leave the line before voting. But that's OK, because they, considering where I live (East Cobb county, Georgia), were probably McC voters.

Driving others to the polls tomorrow.

It was no sacrifice. Standing in line for hours on November 4 would be.

And every single Democratic member of my family has done likewise. They had to: they were sick and tired of my nagging phone calls.

I didn't remind any Republicans, though.

38. Absentee - Sent to MI
Absentee is so much more convenient. I'm gonna try to do this next time as well. Some states have certain restrictions - I know MI requires you to vote in person the first time. But obtaining an absentee doesn't require written excuses and whatnot like some states.

I urge others to vote absentee and early, if anything to reduce the lines on the fourth. I'm really worried about some states having long lines which may discourage some from participating.

39. No.
If was going to be gone, I could vote absentee. That's not the case so I have to vote on election day.

I had to be out of town and voted absentee for the mid-term and it wasn't very satisfying.

40. Voted for Obama last week in Virginia
We do not have early voting in this state. In order to vote early, you must have a specific (and very limited reason for doing so). The lines at the "vote absentee in person" lines at the DMV nearby were exceptionally long and we are absentee voting in person in record numbers in Virginia Beach!

42. My wife, step-daughter and I . . .
all voted last weekend for Obama! My step-daughter just turned 19, so it was her first opportunity to vote. She was really excited to vote for Barack! We all felt great after casting our votes! The voting place in Columbus, Ohio was very busy, but well-staffed, so it only took about an hour and fifteen minutes. I have never seen so many people who were so happy to stand in a line for an hour! Everyone I saw had the Democratic candidate "cheat sheet" in their hands. I don't know if there was one Republican in the whole building. It was awesome!

I also think I convinced about five people at work to vote early, so their votes are not just being cast into the abyss of the black-box voting machines. Most of them also liked the idea of not standing in line for hours. Early voting on paper is the way to go!

I would suppose that the Obama campaign does not want to make a pest of itself more than a week before election day. I also live in NJ and have received only one call so far, by the AFL-CIO, urging me to vote on election day.

Why give them an extra week or two to monkey with the count? I understand if you live in an underequipped precinct and need to avoid the lines, but I live in the ass of nowhere. I'll be in and out in minutes. And even if not, what the fuck, at least I'll get time away from work for it.

67. One other reason to vote early
By being in line on Election Day, you are making the line longer for someone who might not wait it out. Now, if you live in a Republican-leaning area that might not be such a bad thing, but if you live in an urban area PLEASE vote early.

Can't do it in Missouri as far as I know.

Hell I can't even check a box for a straight party vote in this rethug controlled state.

There are a large number of ballot measures and then each and every office must be voted on separately.

There will be hella long waits at the precincts in Missouri on Nov 4.

I'm not sure everyone realizes this.

80. Nope.
I live in MA, so we're safe blue anyway--and my precinct uses paper ballots. No electronic fuckery. Plus, my town has about 500 RVs total, so there aren't exactly lines to vote.

Plus, voting on Election Day is a family affair now.

85. I voted this weekend
Stopped by 7-11 and got my Obama coffee on the way to the polling place too. There were 3 others getting Obama coffee at the 7-11 while I was there.

This is in North Texas.

93. I'm in IL and we've never had long lines when I usually vote
which is early in the morning before work. But I'm actually thinking about voting early this year.. like today or tomorrow. Barack makes a good point about just going ahead and doing it.. get it out of the way so it's done.
