Getting bad feeling about this election... HELP!
I have been confident for a long time, but that confidence is beginning to wane. I am getting fricken' scared to death that * might actually be in for another term. Somebody calm me down. Please!

Now I know all of these polls are an inaccurate science, so I've never put much stock in them-- whether or not they favored *, Kerry, whatever. What worries me is that this is even a "horse-race" to begin with. I mean, how could * even be close to Kerry? Democrat and Repuke partisanship aside-- John Kerry is one of the strongest, most articulate, and most savvy presidential candidates this nation has ever seen. His message and vision for this nation is clear, concise, and easy to understand. If he is elected, I predict he will go down in history as one of the top 5 U.S. Presidents of all time.

And yet there are so many who can't see this? Enough that the little shrub is even in the running? That scares the crap out of me. Who are these people and why can't they see what is so obvious?

1. Just make sure you and everyone you know
gets to the polls. We will win if we do that.

3. Ok ok
Look we are in a pretty good shape, the polls gave teh chimpster a total of two point bounce which is NEVER GOOD for the incumbent, whehter it is the Chimpster or somebody else

The press is making you scared, but we are in a
Here where I live, (SAN DIEGO CALIFORNIA) I see more and more Kerry bumpers, and this is a very conservative town. We are even having converstations with conservs who are going to VOTE for KERRY

Now I am not trying to be pollyanish, but if the elections are clean (chuckle) I smell the 8 million angry extra voters that will ensure a landslide, I still smell the same number that will amke stealing it a taad hard, not impossible, just hard.

Now we are at the end game and this will be hard, but keep your chin up and keep fighting. Oh and roll over them sleeves, we have just begun to fight.

5. The problem is penetrating the wall of ignorance and stupidity that
separates most Americans from the truth. The Republican machine is much better at that than the Dems. They talk in small, easy to digest sound bites; speak with a lot of self confidence; and are good at telling people what they want to hear. It's a tough scenario to go up against. But with smart and savvy communicating, I think we can overcome this. It just takes a strong message and tenacity.

7. NO convention bounce = No new votes for dumbya.

All those that voted for Gore, will now vote for Kerry.

* is toast.

Go volunteer for the campaign - write an LTTE.

9. Things have turned around just in the past couple of days.
Pay real close attention and you'll feel it. Kerry's hitting back hard and the 1,000th dead American soldier sure doesn't help Bush.

11. The polls may minimize the number of Dems
due to the fact they never poll people using cell phones exclusively. This leaves out 1/3rd of African Americans and most people below age 25, both groups that strongly favor Kerry. You might be able to add a point or two just for that.

10. Instead of worrying, spend your time supporting Kerry
Write at least one letter per day to a media outlet. Talk up Kerry to your friends and neighbors. Do something positive. Don't worry.

13. Aren't you the same guy that said:
"We now have a "progressive" Democratic ticket that includes two wealthy, white men who both voted to give the shrubby the power to wage war in Iraq and who both refused to vote against the Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage.

Gee, I'm just bubbling with enthusiasm for this "progressive" ticket."

Or this:

"You want to see "middle of the road"? Look at Kerry's campaign. He vows to "stay the course" in Iraq. He vows to take pre-emptive military action against other nations if intelligence deems it necessary. He voted for the war Iraq. He refuses to vote against the Gay Marriage Amendment. He says he "personally" believes life begins at conception. He says he believes in a strong US military.

I don't know about you, but these aren't my ideas of what liberal candidate looks like. Actually, it sounds like corporate repugs in sheeps' clothing."

Or this:

"Isn't it just grand being brutally honest here at DU?

It really is sad. I belong to some other Democratic/liberal discussion groups and at least there people are willing to look in the mirror and critique themselves when appropriate. "

Or this:

"Once again, the DNC decided that Democrats needed to look and sound like Repugs in order to get elected. Who cares if our candidate talks like a war hawk in an arena filled with 15,000 ardent anti-war, anti-military delegates? Who cares if he voted for the war in the first place? Who cares if he says he'll send MORE troops to Iraq? Who cares that he recently said he would use PRE-EMPTIVE military actions if intelligence deemed it necessary? Who cares-- because he said he was a uniter and not a divider. He said he will make America stronger. He said he will bring hope. Well whoopi-fricken-doo. I don't know which party is which anymore. Let them try to confiscate my anti-war sign at a rally."

Or this:

"Once again, the DNC tried to make our candidates and our convention look like a bunch of Repugs lite. There was so much war-hawking and macho bullshit happening on that stage it made me sick. "Which party is which?", I actually thought out loud at one point. Tried and true, the DNC takes the liberal base for granted, strap on the muzzles and confiscate the signs, tell us all to hush and look like good little happy Democrats while they try to impersonate the Thugs.

Grrrrrrr....!!!!!!"

If so, can you please explain this from your original post:

"John Kerry is one of the strongest, most articulate, and most savvy presidential candidates this nation has ever seen. His message and vision for this nation is clear, concise, and easy to understand. If he is elected, I predict he will go down in history as one of the top 5 U.S. Presidents of all time. "

Why is my "spidey-sense" tingling?

15. I just LOVE how some say "antiwar' and "antimilitary" as if it's the same
thing.

Many Repubs use that same false concept...especially when they are afraid.

14. Roller coasters do flutter the stomach....

The media and the polls will not be consistent, so you have to be. There is tremendous wisdom in being steadfast, AND with that focus, there is inner peace.

So, be steadfast, focus on your own convictions INSTEAD of the polls, and take the action you feel is necessary to ensure a Kerry election and a Bush DEFEAT.
- Register voters
- Make calls
- Talk to the undecided
- Gather FACTUAL information about what Bush has or hasn't done.
- Point out that many of Kerry's positions are relatively moderate.
- Write Letters to the Editor
- If you are not in a swing state, offer to make calls or travel to those who are.

But again, and overall, be steadfast.

18. Please, Enough Of This Sniveling Bullshit
I'm really sick of the hand-wringing, all this "I'm scarrred" stuff is starting to scare ME because we cannot win like that!!

Call your local DNC and ask what you can DO. Volunteer to register voters next month -- I am doing so at my local community college, the more young voters, the better for Kerry.

Write to the media and demand fair coverage.

And even if the worst case scenario happens, stay strong, don't waver, we cannot let the Bush Oil Cartel steal our country and our democracy. Stay calm, focused, and speak the truth.

21. I have to ask -
Do you ever have a positive thought? Don't mean to be snippy, but geeze, you are constantly putting the candidates down or whining that you need reassurance. Like either one of those things are going to help in this election. Next time you need propping up, why don't you take a handful of campaign material and go out and talk to people? If you can't get out, make calls, everyone can contribute in some way. Not only will you be helping, you will see for yourself that everything will be fine. And even if it isn't, you have turned that negative energy into something productive. Do your part to make sure that Bush isn't re-elected. If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem - trite, but true.
