Voted after waiting 7 hours in line today in northeast GA.
They opened up 4 more locations in my county today (Gwinnett) so I arrived at the one in my town shortly after 11am.
Left the building at 6:15pm. Huge line, "machine problems" (a worker told us the system kept going up and down) AND I had my daughter with me----who did unbelievably awesome.

Obama/Biden 2008

Why the hell isn't Georgia more prepared?!? 7 hours?!? WTF? I wonder how many new voters are not going to bother.

7. Good to hear.
Is that all they had was machines? Those "machine problems" are suspicious.

9. You need to vote absentee next time
You don't need a reason in Georgia to request an absentee ballot.

21. OMG! For a second I thought you wrote "Vote Abstinence"!!!!
I may be forced into abstinence but I don't think I'd ever vote for it!!!!

Congrats to the poster for patience and the vote.

11. Thank you. It's too bad you have a Republican Secretary of State.

(Not that voting is universally fast in states with Democratic SOS and universally slow in states with Republican SOS, but I doubt that your Republican SOS will care about the long line.)

13. oddlhy, it was the SOS aid who turned in the vote switching device
added to the diebold machines AFTER they were approved in 2006 (here in GA).

At any rate, KUDOS to anyone who is standing in line this long -- pack a lunch, bring an I-pod and remember you are serving your country:-)

I'll be driving people to the polls and videoing the vote on Nov 4.

vote down the whole ticket -- for ALL the dems and if you have trouble voting, call the Obama HQ nearest you ASAP.

22. "Machine Problem"
What exactly do these fucking machines do right? They seem to be designed to not work properly and can't be considered a secure method of balloting when/if they do work.

This whole fucking system needs to be ripped out, rethought, planned and implemented in broad daylight using Open Source software and the entire 18th century patchwork of fragmented elections systems under the control of political hacks from state to state and county to county should be burned away forever like a pile of stinking garbage.

24. I drove by the Norcross location
around 11:30 this morning, intending to vote on my lunch break. I saw what had to be at least 500 people in line, which stretched almost a full block. I'll try again every day this week, but I suspect I'll have to wait for Tuesday, as my work schedule is just too busy to allow for long waits.

It reminded me of the 2000 election, in which I had to wait almost 3 hours on election day, most of it having to listen to a grade-school teacher's bigoted attacks on Catholics & Jews.

30. I voted on Sept. 22 in Bibb County, GA
You can confirm the status of your vote here: http://sos.georgia.gov/cgi-bin/locator.asp

My wife and I waited about 20 minutes to vote, and we voted on the very first day possible. Last week, when I had to drive by our early-voting location on an errand, I noticed that the lines are much longer now than they were on Sept. 22.

The United States is a LIBERAL Country.
