AK-Sen: Stevens can't vote for himself
by kos
Mon Oct 27, 2008 at 04:30:04 PM PDT
Alaska law:

I was convicted of a felony, but have served my time and am on probation. Can I register to vote?

No. A convicted felon may not register to vote unless unconditionally discharged from custody. When you are no longer on probation, a copy of your discharge papers will allow you to register.

2. I think it's funny that he likely will never be able to vote for himself.
I think it's bullshit that he's able to serve as Senator. Hopefully, the Senate will correct this problem in 2009 (assuming that Cranky O'Nettubes is elected).

10. If he does get elected and Bush pardons him?
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 08:50 PM by MattBaggins
You think the repubs would go that far just to save a seat? Or do we get the BS that he wins, gets booted; and Palin appoints The First Dud Tawd?

11. Alaska law does not permit the gov to appoint a Senator.
They would have to have a psecial election, as I heard it on NPR this afternoon.

7. He can vote for winner of the prison talent contest
I hear they have some pretty rough jails in Alaska. His first move will be to look for a nice federal prison in a warmer climate.
