'Obama Wins,' newspaper declares (CNN)
Source: CNN

SANTA FE, New Mexico (CNN) – For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or “Dewey Beats Truman” déjà vu 60 years later.

“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface.

The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct 26-Nov 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.

In an article explaining their choice, the editors unabashedly wrote, “When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement.” ...

15. Yeah, these people are idiots!
More fodder for the right wing to talk about. Up to now, they could just use some bogus story from a book. Now, they can throw this story around about how cocky Obama and the dems are. On top of that, as you point out, it is very much of a Jinx.

4. Sounds like a win-win for the paper to me
When Barack wins, they can claim the first to pronounce it. If the bush machine steals the election, which they are probably working on as I post, their paper will be a keep sake. Good for them.

10. Starting to feel like I did in 2004 a bit...
They told us that Kerry was in the lead the exit polls showed people were voting for Kerry, yet the turn out wasnt what it was thought to be. Dont get complacent, people need to act like this is August we are in a dead heat, the MSM is setting Obama up for dissapointment. I just hope its the republicans that think their vote is meaningless and stay home on Nov 4., well atleast all the racist ones. I do feel like it is going to be a rout but then again I felt like it was a gimme in 04. I vote and I live in Alabama.
