For folks who want to donate to Obama and spread the word out for Obama; heres a new way - ( I tried it out with great success :-) )

I promised to get stuff from the Obama campaign store for the first x requests (however many responders that total up to your desired donation) I got (send an email to all friends I knew). I made them agree to an honor system where they would show off their Obama gear at least once in public.

So I get to donate to the Obama campaign and do a little PR through my friends/colleagues!

1. As long as you don't accept $$ and they don't wear the gear when they vote...great idea!

The stuff might not arrive in time for the election though, and wearing campaign gear at the polling place is considered "passive electioneering," which is a no-no in many states including California.
Also, when you donate to campaigns, it has to be your money. It's illegal to use someone else's money to make a donation on your own behalf.
Creative idea though!

2. No $$ accepted; only support

At first, I made them try to donate but then they said - "Obama has way too much money already." I even told them that Obama is donating funds to other senate races to improve dem majority - but what everyone fell for was free stuff. Now a couple of them went to the site and have donated.

Maybe I have too many "materialistic" friends :-)

4. Haha, you should try bribing them with non-material things and see if they donate... like compliment
compliments or hugs or something.

3. I tried it - didn't work.
Even designed a bumpersticker to give away to anyone who donated to my website.

I think the people I know are tapped out.
