1. The rejection of consumerism, the liberalization of religion, the decentralization of agriculture,
and the building of massive local and national rail transportation.

8. STOP THE OCCUPATIONS! I'd rather our leaders would talk to
their enemies than fight with them. With kindness and compassion. :)

10. Everything I need to know about the new paradigm I saw in a computer science talk tonight.
Turns out processors can't be made to run much faster, they've topped out. So the new paradigm for computers is many processors, which is an entirely new thing. Before the question was "How much can this individual processor alone do?" Now the question is "what kind of things can we do by making them work together?" Replace processors with people and you have my hope for the new paradigm, that we will begin to accept our limitations as competing individuals and see what we can do when we work together... :)

11. how about a global energy cooperative?
What if the planet's core was used as a center of gravity, building a ring around the planet (within the atmosphere), harnessing gravity to generate electricity? Clean, 'renewable', an infinite source of energy the world over... but requires the basic liberal sentiment of 'sharing the wealth'.

Build a ring, dropping an object along its path, it will rest upon the bottom. If the center of gravity resides in the middle of the ring, the object never stops.

14. A real discussion about race and racism.
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 03:59 AM by political_Dem
I want people to honestly deal with America's true history about race and racial injustice. I want it to question white privilege and entitlement. There should be a national discussion that finally dismantles "colorblind racism".

I would like it to be discussed even if there are some of us in the country who are afraid of racial talk. We need to think of race differently in this country. It would be very helpful--especially when McCain and Palin went out of their way to stir up racial hatred in this country.

18. to see "free market" ideology and the expansion of American military power as beyond the pale
Now that these crazy, mixed-up 19th Century notions have been discredited in front of the whole world - they deserve no more serious consideration than arguments extolling the virtues of Stalin.

And to see a political body politic in which accusing someone of being a Muslim carries no more interest than accusing someone of being a Catholic.
