My neighbor witnessed a man destroying a large Obama sign
During our canvass launch today, one of my neighbors stopped by to pass on an incident she witnessed. She said she was driving her kids to school at about 8:30 the other morning and she saw a man hammering at a large Obama yard sign. The signs are very large - like, so big I can't fit it into my minivan. It was attached to the back fence of a house on a major thoroughfare. She said the man was very aggressively hammering at the sign and breaking it to bits. She said she and others (this was near an intersection) were honking and shouting at the man, and he kept on with his hammering. Then, he turned toward her and raised the hammer up, motioning toward her. She said he gave her a look that made her feel very threatened. She didn't have her cell phone with her, so she couldn't call the police. Her kids were shocked at the behavior of the man.

This is just nuts. And scary.

3. I hate to say it but I am not surprised, Repubs have done many similar actions
around me and children at various places. They really think that they are all that matters.

:grr::grr:

4. Maybe it's scary because you've had so many positive stories to
tell us?
But I have an Obama/Biden sign in my backyard; I don't want it to be stolen. A neighbor down the block has had a 'Texans for Obama' sign up for awhile and no one has touched it. Mine is going out front tomorrow, and there are whackadoos everywhere. I only have one (so far) around my neighborhood with a McCain/Palin sign, on his garage. That's it. Big strides since 2004.

5.  Today must've been the 'bad day for signs' day, lol
because earlier today, one of our walkers asked if she could take another yard sign because hers was stolen ~~ again. My neighbors and I have had ours up for 2 weeks now, and we've not had any problems. I think what was so brazen about this is that the man chose to destroy this sign in broad daylight during heavy traffic, as people were going to work and to drop off kids. It was blatant, as if he was really sending a message.

6. Maybe he was a Repub
homeowner who didn't want a Dem sign on the back of his fence. Some municipalities don't allow political signs on fences - they require that they be free-standing. My point is there are lots of other explanations beside vandalism.

In my case though, there was no other explanation except theft for the Obama sign that someone stole out of my own yard.

9. At least it's a sign...
I question whether some of McCain's more imbalanced supporters are capable of doing this to another human being.

10. We had a huge banner that was cut down off our tree over the w/e!
It was tied to our street corner eucalyptus tree, where it had been since before the primaries ended. The grommets are actually still hanging on the rope. I'm so pissed! They also stole our "No on Prop 8" sign, right off the corner.

We live in CA and it's very disheartening to see this much hate in our little corner of the world, but it also strengthens our resolve to continue speaking out and believing in a better future for our country.

Hey thieves, YOU lose. Change IS coming, no matter how many signs you steal or destroy.

Deal with it.

if his reaction to people being upset at his crime is to intimidate.

15. No pictures of battered sign yet?
How far away is the sign from the closest camera? Must be a way to get a picture of it.
Something that big needs a picture.
