KKK for Palin (Her Visit to Asheville)
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 11:50 PM by tekisui

Look close at the picture above. This was in the window of the apartment building next door to the Civic Center where palin was to appear. "KKK for Palin". Disgusting. I caught a the fucker who put it up:

Anyway, she came to Asheville, just two blocks from my house, so I thought I should take the walk downtown to be part of the unwelcome wagon. Here are some shots of the good Ashvillins who showed up to counter the palin fans.

The Obama supporters/Palin protesters numbered about a hundred compared to the 7500 Palin supporters, but we were louder, more diverse, more colorful and more passionate.

The police did a good job letting everyone practice their right to free speech. Most of the palin fans ignored us. Sheep are timid. :)

Some of the 12-14 year old kids would shout what their folks were afraid to say. It was a lot of fun. I left before palin made it in, she was about two hours late, and I wanted to catch some of the zombie parade. 1,000 zombies started at the big city cemetery and lurched downtown, and were much more interesting than sarah and her ilk.

Enjoy the photos:

2. The apartment building he is in is low income housing.
A lot of vets live there. Being an old white guy, I don't think he was going for satire.

13. It could have been against Palin,
but I really don't think it was. Western NC is conservative and racist, when you get out of Asheville.

I pointed the signs out to the local news, they photographed it, but said the same as you. They didn't know who put them up, or why, so couldn't really do anything with it. I understand that. I told her I could.

31. It is a low income area, a lot of Vets live here.
That says it all. Sad how you can use people and they are too damn dumb to even realize it. It is like the working class Republicans who cooperate in their own economic suicide.

42. Because old white guys won't vote for Obama???
Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 12:04 PM by Marrah_G
My first reaction was it was a direct slam at Palin's racists speeches.

I doubt the real KKK would be advertising it in an apartment window.........

Assumptions based on color and income never have good results.

44. That old white is not.
You must not be familiar with Western NC. Whether he is with the KKK or just a supporter of them, I seriously, very seriously doubt that this sign was a slam on Palin. The people who live in that building are not the type to have that sophisticated intellect.

5. These are the first photos I've seen of the Obama people that
show up at THEIR rallies. Thanks for posting.
Happy, hopeful faces.
For some reason it made me remember and think of what we all did here after bush won the second time: send photos of ourselves to the world with notes of apology. There were tons of those photos. I wonder if they're still online somewhere.

It will remind people of how we all felt and perhaps get a few more out there to cast their ballot. Thanks so much for posting this site.

I just viewed a Sarah Palin pictorial of the same event hoping to find something humorous
this site was a semi official site. Didn't find anything except that the inside of the building
seating arrangement looked really small like a High School Gym.

15. It holds 6500-7000 people.
They gave out 7500 tickets, reported. The crowd to go in was all white, mostly middle aged. No passion. I wondered why they even bothered?

Edited on Mon Oct-27-08 12:27 AM by mentalsolstice
It's probably the most liberal city in the US, maybe behind SF and NYC. We've often wished we could live there, but alas, it has a much higher cost of living than we can afford.

on edit: what in the world could they have hoped to achieve by going there. The city is largely inhabited by un-Americans :eyes:.

46. I could be wrong,
but growing up in this area, when I was in elementary school, everyone told n***er jokes on the playground. They would cheer with phrase like "Raise hell, kill n***er babies." I am not that old.

There was and is a lot of racism in Western NC. I think I know this guy, from my upbringing. Again,I could be wrong, I don't think I am, but do hope I am.
